Appointments: Jane Cui as new President Leica Camera Asia

The appointment is part of a new management level and organisational structure that has been established to strengthen the important Asian growth market for Leica Camera AG.

In the course of the company’s global expansion and the successive expansion of its subsidiaries, Leica Camera AG has now established an additional management level to its organisational structures in the Asia region.

‘I am thrilled to join the Leica family! There is so much history and so many stories are made by Leica. I look forward to be part of the team to help transform the company, and to continue growing the legacy of the Leica brand’, adds Jane Cui.

In her function as President Leica Camera Asia, Jane Cui will be assuming business responsibility for the markets Greater China and South East Asia with effect from 15 October 2016.

She will report to Oliver Kaltner, CEO of Leica Camera AG.

The Managing Directors responsible for the individual Asian regions – Sunil Kaul (Asia Pacific) and Siegmund Dukek (Greater China) – will report to Jane Cui.

Sony Electronics opens sixth store in Singapore @ Wisma Atria

The new store is the second store along Orchard Road in Singapore, and is located on the 3rd floor (#03-01/01A) of the popular mall Wisma Atria.

Sony Store Wisma Atria will be opened to the public from 1 October 2016, from 10:30am to 9:30pm daily.

These include the recently announced top-of-the-line Z9D series of BRAVIA 4K TVs, as well as the new flagship range of Signature Series High-Resolution Audio (HRA) products.

Huawei & Leica Camera establish new research & innovation center

The ‘Max Berek Innovation Lab’ will conduct R&D in the fields of new optical systems, computational imaging, virtual reality and augmented reality.

Sony launches a99 II flagship A-Mount camera at Photokina 2016

The new a99 II will be available at all Sony Stores, Sony Centres and selected Sony authorised dealers in Singapore from November 2016. RRP TBA.

The new a99 II is the successor to the a99 and includes Sony’s Hybrid Phase Detection AF system and A-mount features such as Translucent Mirror Technology (TMT).

New arrival: Sony PlayStation VR hits Singapore on 13 October

The PlayStation VR is priced at S$599 in Singapore. The PlayStation VR and PlayStation Camera bundle will also be available in Singapore at a suggested retail price of S$649.

More than 60 PS VR software titles are confirmed to be launched in Asia, and 13 of those titles are developed by local developers.

“I am so delighted to announce that PS VR will be available from 13th October, simultaneous with Japan, Europe and North America, demonstrating how we think highly of gamers in Asia” said Hiroyuki Oda, Deputy President of Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia.

These include Mortal Blitz VR (SKONEC Entertainment Co., Ltd) from Korea, Stifled (Gattai Games) from Singapore, and O! My Genesis (XPEC ENTERTAINMENT INC.) from Taiwan.

Pre-order of PlayStation VR will be available at selected Sony Centers and PlayStation® Authorised Dealers from 30 July 2016.

Customers can preorder PlayStation®VR or PlayStation®VR with PlayStation®Camera, while stocks last.

New arrival: 2 new Canon multi-purpose video cameras – ME20F-SH & ME200S-SH

Both cameras are designed for use in extreme low-light conditions. The ME20F-SH (S$31,029) will be available from May 2016, while the ME200S-SH (S$TBA) will be available from August.

The ME20F-SH is Canon’s first ultra-high-sensitivity multi-purpose camera that captures high quality videos in extreme low-light situations.

It is able to shoot Full HD videos (1080p @ 60fps) at 0.0005 lux illumination (ISO 4,000,000+ equivalent)

The Canon ME20F-SH fitted with lens, monitor, SSD and other accessories on a tripod, in the demo at the Canon Singapore office.

The ME200S-SH also boasts high sensitivity (up to ISO 204,800) and supports a variety of production needs ranging from video production to security surveillance.

The price of the ME200S-SH is not released yet but is expected to be much lower than the S$31,029 price-tag of the higher-end ME20F-SH.
