Global press conference for IFA 2019 (6 – 11 Sep in Berlin) is happening right now here in Andalusia, Spain. Hans-Joachim Kamp, Chairman of the supervisory board gfu, Consumer & Home Electronics – shares major global trends of technical consumer goods (TCG).

Hans-Joachim Kamp opened the global press conference with the major trends for TCG.

He concluded that the Global Market for technical consumer goods was still growing, especially smart and connected devices are gaining importance.

Jens Heithecker, Executive Director (IFA) & EVP (Messe Berlin Group) announced that Sennheiser would be the first official audio partner for IFA.

Dr. Christian Göke, CEO of Messe Berlin says, “”Trust is at the heart of every relationship”

Dr. Christian Goke, CEO Messe Berlin, unveiled that Richard Yu, CEO Consumer Business Group, Huawei, would be the opening keynote speaker for IFA 2019.

He also announced that Cristiano Amon, President Qualcomm, would be the second keynote speaker for IFA 2019.

Day 1 of the IFA GPC 2019 kicks off with the MC, Dave Graveline (right), handing the mic over to Jens Heithecker, Executive Director (IFA) & EVP (Messe Berlin Group), for the opening address.

Philips is innovating in the field of data-driven insights into health, with its huge expertise in connectivity, big data and Artificial Intelligence. Announced was the Philips Sonicar Teledentistry Solutions. Philips Sonicare Teledentistry service provides patients with remote dental consultation from licensed dentists within 24 hours.

The Philips Sonicare app acts as a “virtual hub” for personal oral healthcare. Users can manage their complete oral care daily and share brushing data with their doctors, putting personalised guidance and advice at their fingertips.

Event Forecast: IFA Global Press Conference 2019 in Andalusia, Spain

IFA this year will be from 6 – 11 September, 2019. As in previous years, the annual consumer electronics & home appliances show will be preceded by a preview cum global press conference for the media from 25-28 April.

This year’s IFA GPC will be in Andalusia, Spain (25-28 April, 2019). Venues in the past have included Hong Kong & Shenzhen in China (2016), Lisbon in Portugal (2017), and Rome in Italy (2018).

IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin – international radio exhibition Berlin) is a global consumer electronics and home appliances show held annually in Berlin in September.

The IFA Global Press Conference (IFA GPC) that precedes the actual trade show attracts more than 300 journalists from over 55 countries.

Brands participating in this year's event include Philips, Sennheiser, Samsung, BVT, Haier, Hoover, Metz Blue, Plugsurfing, Skyworth, TPVision, Candy, Gorenje, Hisense, Safera, TCL; as well as research houses GfK and IHS Markit.

Event: LG Connect 2018 Asia – Commercial Displays & Home Solutions

LG Connect 2018 Asia is a showcase of the company’s innovations to enhance end-user experience across the retail, hospitality, transport and residential sectors targeting citizens of smart nations at work and play.

LG 55″ transparent OLED signage, with razor-thin bezels. With 40% transparency, this display will be launched end this year or next year.

The LG Connect 2018 Asia was held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore.

“Buoyed by an all-encompassing suite of solutions, LG is excited to partner with businesses in Asia to help expand their portfolios of offerings. Together, we can build technological infrastructures that are future proof and can bring immense benefits to end-users across all the retail, hospitality, transport and residential industries,” says Steve Song, Asia Regional Chief Executive Officer of LG Electronics.

Among the impressive lineup of commercial displays showcased were the Open Frame OLED digital signage, the 55-inch Transparent OLED signage, the In-Glass OLED Wallpaper, OLED Wallpaper Hotel TV, Ultra HD smart displays, 0.9mm even bezel video wall, IPS Interactive Digital Boards, and 88-inch Ultra Stretch displays.

Solutions using these displays in various commercial settings were also exhibited, eg. Pro:Centric smart platform for hotels, and All-in-one Collaboration Solution for business centers, as well as SmartThinQ ecosystem for home appliances and ThinQ AI for LG’s Signature OLED TV W8.

CE China 2018 – Successfully bridging brands to consumers

Today, CE China 2018 draws to a close after three days of connecting brands to manufacturers, retailers and consumers in the pan-Asian region. Tech4tea.com reports as an official media partner for CE China 2018.

In total, 146 companies from 12 countries presented their brands, showcasing consumer electronics and home appliances products.

CE China 2018 – Interview with Jens Heithecker & Dirk Koslowski

Here are some thoughts from the men behind CE China 2018.

Question: In 2017, you had 120 exhibitors showcasing their innovations to 11,500 visitors from 38 countries, within one exhibition hall with 15,000 square metres of exhibition space. This year, the scale is similar. I understand CE China focuses more on quality and focus rather than on size, but in terms of future evolution, is this the ‘steady-state’ size of the show that you’re looking at for the next five years, or are you planning to scale it up in terms of size.

Koslowski: That’s correct. Anyone who has experienced CE China since its premiere in 2016 has witnessed the level of quality that the organisers of IFA pursue with our international retail events. It continues to be our objective to provide all our partners with the most efficient and effective platform for the continuous exchange between brands and retail, outside of political intentions and issues, purely focused on the core purpose of doing business.

Koslowski: This does not necessarily go hand in hand with huge growth spikes in exhibition space, especially during the introductory phase. What matters more to us is a consistent, credible qualitative development that is based on partnerships – just like outlined above. We may be acting very German in this regard – however, that is exactly what we aspire to and what our partners expect from us.

Event forecast: CE China 2018 in Shenzhen, China

Currently in its 3rd installment, CE China this year will be from 3 – 5 May, 2018. The annual consumer electronics & home appliances show is a “prolongation” of IFA for the Chinese market.

* IFA is one of the world’s most significant trade show for consumer electronics and is taking place from 31 August to 5 September 2018 in Berlin, Germany.

As a “global IFA” event, CE China is an addition to Messe Berlin’s portfolio for the Chinese market.
