To get a picture of Roborock’s strategy for APAC in H2 2022, I asked Joan Hu five questions.
Q1. Roborock has recorded a strong growth in China since its introduction. What do you think contributed to this?
In the robot vacuum market back in 2014, most available products only focused on the basic need that comes with a vacuum – cleaning.
We saw an opportunity to fulfill needs and wants that consumers didn’t know they had yet.
Hence, we grew our R&D department with a team of engineers, scientists, manufacturing experts and designers – all vital for creating products that truly fit our users’ lifestyle.
Q2. Any new vacuum launches this year?
We have just launched the Roborock S7 MaxV in early 2022.
This is an upgrade of our popular Roborock S7, with ReactiveAI 2.0 Obstacle Avoidance System.
The S7 MaxV recognizes objects in its path more accurately and adapts quickly to clean around them, regardless of lighting conditions.
It also features Roborock’s acclaimed VibraRise® technology, a combination of sonic mopping with an automatic mop lift designed to transition smoothly over contrasting surfaces, while delivering effective high-intensity scrubs to tackle surface dirt.
The Roborock Q7 Max robot vacuum cleaner and mop was launched in Singapore recently in April 2022.
That’s not all, we also launched the Q7 Max – the latest lineup to our premium Q-series, a range of robot vacuums that combines proven features of our flagship S-Series, including LiDAR navigation, multi-level mapping and customizable app controls, making automated cleaning now an affordable luxury.

Designed to be highly durable, the HUAWEI Mate Xs 2 adopts a bullet-proof Composite Structure Screen and layered design, making it an excellent shock absorber and buffer.
Huawei Consumer Business Group has launched for Singapore its Huawei Mate Xs 2 foldable phablet.
“HUAWEI Mate Xs 2 has fully evolved design aesthetics, smart communications, imaging technology and the large-screen interactive experience. This exciting new flagship is set to lead the era of ideal foldable phones,” said Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group.
Keywords that Huawei uses to describe the Mate Xs 2 include “ultra-light, ultra-thin, ultra-flat and ultra-reliable”.
The new Double-rotating Falcon Wing Hinge gives the HUAWEI Mate Xs 2 a unibody design with a flat and seamless fold.
The phone is also equipped with Huawei’s signature flagship features, including a 7.8″-inch True-Chroma Foldable Display and a 50MP True-Chroma Camera System that supports Huawei XD Optics.
Its new dynamic folding visual effect and the upgraded Smart Multi-Window provides an innovative and interactive experience to its users.

i Light Singapore is back in Singapore Marina Bay from 3 – 26 June after a hiatus of two years due to the pandemic. The highlight of this year’s light festival is a floating exhibit titled “Lightwave: Isle of Light, empowered by OPPO”.
“i Light Singapore’s focus on raising awareness of sustainability is aligned with OPPO’s mission of ‘technology for mankind, kindness for the world’. We are excited to be part of the Festival for the second time as it returns after a two-year hiatus,” said Dylan Yu, Marketing Director of OPPO Singapore.
The annual light festival is organised by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) of Singapore and presented by DBS Bank.
i Light Singapore 2022 is happening from 3 to 26 June, 7.30 to 11pm daily with extended hours to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Here’s Jason Chen, Festival Director, presenting an overview of i Light Singapore 2022.
This year’s festival sees 20 light installations from 14 countries, of which Oppo’s floating exhibit is the highlight.
Titled “Firefly Field”, this exhibit is by multidisciplinary design studio TOER of the Netherlands and is my personal favourite.
The exhibit comprises five zones which include holographic projections, illuminated motion-capture graphics and shadow play, as well as light beams that create a mystical forest, and a light art showcase.

The new EOS R7 (S$2,049) and EOS R10 (S$1,309) are the first to use APS-C sensors in Canon’s EOS R (for revolution) line of mirrorless cameras. Also introduced are two new RF-S lenses for the new cameras. Prices & Availability below.
The two new APS-C mirrorless cameras and lenses from Canon’s EOS R lineup.
The 32.5-megapixel EOS R7 and 24.2-megapixel EOS R10 are designed for more experienced users who require a fast camera to photograph dynamic subjects such as sports and wildlife.
The high-performance EOS R7 features In-Body Image Stabilization (In-Body IS), weather-sealing, and dual SD card slots, while the EOS R10 is designed for more standard everyday needs, featuring a built-in flash and a smaller form factor.

The new Huawei Mate Xs 2 folding phablet has a 7.8-inch True-Chroma foldable display and weighs only 255g.

Xiaomi has opened its eighth authorised store in Singapore at Waterway Point, with launch promotions of up to 50% off selected AIoT products.
Xiaomi’s 140-square-metre store is situated in Waterway Point, a family and lifestyle shopping mall in Punggol. It is located at B1-41/42 (East Wing) and is open everyday from 11am to 9pm. Photo credit: Xiaomi Singapore.
