“ESTC returns this year to simplify and make intelligent business solutions more accessible to every business,” said Tan May Lin, Epson Singapore’s General Manager (Sales, Marketing & Customer Service Division), at ESTC 2016.
The global technology leader in printing, visual communications and digital imaging demonstrated integrated solutions that addressed the varied needs that businesses had in their work processes.
ESTC 2016 is the second edition of Epson’s bi-yearly convention to engage corporate partners and customers to raise awareness on its range of business products and solutions.
A large format printer for the marketing department, showcased at ESTC 2016 in the Sands Expo and Convention Centre at the Marina Bay in Singapore.
Epson showcased new business products ranging from office scanners to its new ultra-short throw interactive projector, mobile point of sales systems and wearable technology such as the Moverio BT-300 smart glasses and BT-2000 smart headset at the convention.
The convention was held today at Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre and attended by 153 guests including business partners, end users, media and distributors.
Integrating intelligent solutions for business success
Epson’s showcase offered insights as well as real-life demonstrations on how companies can develop a holistic strategy when investing in technology.

Hong Kong-based E-Huge Technology launches three new Avengers-themed Windows 10 notebooks/2-in-one devices in Singapore. Prices & availability below.
The new laptops are targeted at fans of Marvel Avengers.
All three devices will be available from 10 December, and include 4GB DDR3 RAM and Atom x5 Z8300 CPU.
The notebooks were launched in Hungry Heroes cafe in Singapore.

Second Minister for Defence Ong Ye Kung commemorates 35 years of innovation at the MINDEF PRIDE Day and officiates opening of SGDefence Exhibition at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
Speaking at the awards presentation ceremony, Second Minister for Defence Ong Ye Kung noted that this year marked the 35th anniversary of the PRIDE movement and commended the progress of the PRIDE movement over the years. SGDefence Exhibition
The public is invited to visit the SGDefence Exhibition, which is held at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre Hall A from 4 to 8 November 2016, 11am to 8pm.
The exhibition features indigenous technology solutions from the DTC, projects of the MINDEF PRIDE Day 2016 and Smart Defence initiatives.
A total of 184 awards were presented to individuals, groups and units from MINDEF and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in recognition of their outstanding and innovative projects.
Through their innovations and work improvement ideas, savings exceeding $164 million were achieved in the last financial year.
To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the PRIDE movement, PRIDE pioneer and then-Permanent Secretary (Defence) Lim Siong Guan also gave a plenary speech on the intent of the PRIDE movement and the crucial role that innovation will play in Singapore’s future.

The Defence Technology Community (DTC) in Singapore turns 50 this year and to celebrate that, DTC will be showcasing its indigenous innovations and solutions in an interactive exhibition – the SGDefence Exhibition.

The SGDefence Exhibition will be held from 4 to 8 November 2016 at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre Hall A. The opening hours are 12.30pm to 8pm on 4 November and 11am to 8pm from 5 to 8 November. It is open to the public and is free.
The SGDefence exhibition features over 60 exhibits across five clusters.
Visitors can see, interact and experience the many technologies developed by the DTC and the ground-up innovation MINDEF PRoductivity and Innovation in Daily Efforts (PRIDE).
Technology in Defence
The five clusters will show how science and technology change the rules of the game and take Singapore’s defence capabilities to a whole new level.
Before entering the exhibition, visitors can complete the Event Passport located at the redemption booth to redeem your exclusive Access Card which can be kept as a memento.
The five clusters
The first cluster, Remembering Our Heritage, shows the nation’s first steps in defence R&D and the importance of building up Singapore’s defence capabilities in the early years of independence.
In Cluster 1, visitors can witness the evolution of DTC over the past five decades and learn about the nation’s humble beginnings and the challenging journey towards achieving what it has today.
The cluster includes a video that tells the story of Singapore’s humble beginnings in defence science and technology and a commemorative wall and video that highlights the DTC’s key milestones and innovations from 1966 to today and the various organisations and their responsibilities under the DTC’s charge.

The new Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch offers Military-grade Protection, IP68 water and dust resistance, mobile payments, and built-in speaker and GPS.

The “Beyond Boundaries” photo exhibition showcases Laxmi’s photos from multiple visits to the Kashmir. This story first appeared on The Travel Memoir.
Here you can see the photographer, Laxmi Kaul with one of her subjects.. A juxtaposition of the modern Indian woman with one in traditional garb.
Beyond Boundaries presents Laxmi Kaul and her journey with the people and nomads of Kashmir, where life is about simplicity, serenity and sincerity.
“After shooting in a highly turbulent & conflict–ridden area, I have realized that it is the everyday lives of the people living there that matter to me. They are the ones who makes me want to go back to and continue to narrate their stories. Their daily lives & cultures. I have discovered there is something special in the everyday; for one, we are alive,” said Laxmi Kaul.
What goes on around the borders?
Sometimes life is about the unplanned moments, the appreciation of nature and how civilisations interact.
Laxmi Kaul is a self -taught professional photographer, having started photography at a young age when she saw her father’s passion for making images.
Since then, she has never looked back.
Despite being a commercial photographer, she still holds people and documentary photography closest to her heart.
Laxmi connects with spirituality in daily life and travels with a patriotic zeal.
This photo is one of many beautiful shots that Laxmi Kaul is exhibiting at the Leica Galleries Singapore at Raffles Hotel Singapore from now till 5 December, 2016. Photo credit: Laxmi Kaul.
She believes the camera is her tool and photography is an extension of her very being.

Event forecast: from 24 November, the final of the four large annual IT exhibitions in Singapore will take place for four days (24 – 27 Nov) at the Singapore EXPO, in Halls 5 & 6. SITEX 2016 will open daily from 11 am to 9 pm (Admission FREE).
SITEX is organised by the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SITF) and managed by SingEx Exhibitions, and receives more than 300,000 visitors.
Established in 1988, SITEX 2016 will see more than 500 brands of infocomm and consumer electronic products spread over more than 200,000 sq ft of exhibition space.
SITEX 2016 seems more interesting this year. Apart from the usual vendor booths selling gizmos at discounted prices, there are many booths featuring technology and gaming – eg. smart home technology, even techno dance (DanceTex2016).

The Hybrid IT Readiness Report is the result of a CenturyLink study that shows that 75% of organisations already outsource managed services as business growth remains a priority.
The CenturyLink Asia Pacific Hybrid IT Readiness Report 2016 surveyed 600 decision-makers across six key APAC markets in September 2016. The full report can be downloaded here. Click on image to enlarge.
The study from CenturyLink indicates that hybrid IT is the pervasive IT infrastructure model for organisations in Asia Pacific, including Japan (APJ).
“Digital disruption is changing the way we approach business today globally. In particular, IT departments are experiencing tremendous change as organisations turn IT into a driving force for all aspects of the business, including the customer experience.” said Gery Messer, managing director, Asia Pacific, CenturyLink.
This as a vast majority are taking transformative steps to match workloads to their best execution venue across a blend of in-house and third-party services.
According to the CenturyLink Asia Pacific Hybrid IT Readiness Report 2016, 73 percent of organisations are aware of the hybrid IT deployment model.
75 percent of them already outsource at least one or more data center, network, security or applications services to third-party managed service providers.
In addition, 84 percent of organisations cite security as the key driver to consider managed service providers.
“As more organisations turn to a blend of in-house and third-party IT services, it is important for leaders to address concerns on security. They need to carefully assess their technology partners to ensure that security capabilities are well embedded in all of their offerings – managed hosting, managed services, network solutions, colocation and cloud. The report also found that service delivery improvements involving data centers (63 percent) and network (52 percent) are key drivers for executives to outsource IT services.
