Local kids-tech maker myFirst has launched the Fone R2 smartwatch, Frame Live (10”), Frame Doodle (9”) digital photo frame, and Circle 2.0 social app. Prices below.
“Today, we are proud to introduce myFirst Circle 2.0, along with two new devices – a new smartphone myFirst Fone R2 and a new myFirst Frame. myFirst Fone R2 offers an incredibly lightweight design paired with a stunning display while myFirst Frame is an addition that not only enhances children’s digital experiences but also empowers grandparents to effortlessly connect with their grandchildren’s world, fostering meaningful family connections,” said G-Jay Yong, Founder and CEO of myFirst.
The myFirst Fone R2 smartwatch has a 1.3-inch AMOLED screen and is thinner (16%) and lighter (7g) lighter than its predecessor (R1s).
“I frequently check in on my daughter to stay connected with her daily activities, whether it’s during lunch, before bedtime, or while I’m working long hours or on overseas business trips. The inspiration behind the Knock-Knock feature comes from my desire to share these moments effortlessly. Now, I can check in, and she responds with delightful updates, like enjoying a bowl of strawberries at home. It’s a simple yet powerful way for us to bridge the distance and feel close, no matter where we are,” said G-Jay Yong, Founder and CEO of myFirst.
It has an intelligent brightness adjustment with a low-power mode that boosts battery life by 30%.
The myFirst Circles 2.0 app is an upgrade from the debut of the original version from January this year (2023) and introduces interactive features such as Momojis and a Knock-Knock feature.
The updated app also features improved location scanning with smart classification, to provide greater safety for children and peace of mind for their parents.
myFirst Circle 2.0 is free and available on Apple AppStore, Google Play and Huawei App Gallery.
For the grandparents at home to keep up with their grandchildren’s activities, myFirst Frame Live (10-inch) and myFirst Frame Doodle (9-inch) enable the former to access the Circles 2.0 app for a personalised feed that enables them to interact with the young ones.

Singapore kids-tech company myFirst has launched a social community app for children – myFirst Circle. It provides a safe, walled social network for kids that enables their parents to monitor, control and guide them on the dos and don’ts of posting and interacting on social networks.
myFirst Circle can be downloaded from the App Store for Apple iOS devices or Google Play for Android smartphones or tablets. It can also be accessed through a myFirst Fone smartwatch.
The new myFirst App provides a social community platform where children can post and share messages, photos and videos with their family and friends.
The parents are able to monitor and control who their children allow into their “circles” of family, besties and friends, as well as the information that they share with these circles.
Parents may change a child’s post settings to enable access by “lower” circles (eg. Acquaintances) or to restrict access to only the inner circles (eg. Family and/or Besties).
This enables parents to supervise and guide their children on the etiquette and precautions to take when sharing on online social networks so that when they are old enough to get onto “grown-up” social networks such as Facebook, Instagram etc, they would be well-coached on the ins-and-outs of sharing media on these networks as well as dos and don’ts in interacting with others on the Web.
Basically, contacts can be accepted into one of four circles: Family, Besties, Friends and Acquaintances.
These four hierarchical circles determine which of a child’s posts that other members of a his/her circle can and cannot see.
For example, all members in a child’s Family circle will be able to see EVERYTHING the child shares.
Those in the Acquaintances circle will have access to the least number of posts.
Founder and CEO of myFirst – G-Jay Yong – briefs how children can access the app through myFirst Fone S3 smartwatch.
So if a child marks a photo as viewable by Besties, only members of his/her Family and Besties circles will see the photo.

The new feature will support any combination between the following eight languages: English, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Thai.
Previously, Translate wasn’t well suited to translate lectures over video conferencing or in a classroom, longer discussions, or stories from grandparents who speak another language.
To address this gap, Google is introducing this new feature that transcribes audio into translated text.
While the feature is only available on Android devices currently, Google is planning to launch it on iOS in the future.

Grab Hitch seems to have hit some glitches within their app with users being logged into the accounts belonging to OTHER users.
Update (1742H, 30 August, 2019)
Grab Hitch has sent out the following message to its drivers to reassure them:
“Dear Hitch Driver, earlier today we experienced an issue in our system. As a result, for a brief window of time some of you were shown another driver’s details in your profile. This issue has been fixed and we’d like to assure you that at no point was your wallet compromised or at risk. We apologise for this issue. If you have any questions please reach out to us via Help Centre in the app.”
Update (1310H, 30 August, 2019)
Around 1pm, the glitch seems to have been fixed by Hitch.
Kudos to such fast rectification!
Grab Hitch user logs into somebody else’s account, views their wallet details. The right image shows some of the different user accounts that he was connected to.
First reports of the Hitch Glitch came in around noon from users in Singapore.
A Grab Hitch driver had a confirmed ride from another driver in his account. To pick up or not to pick up?
Users were logged into the accounts of OTHER users when they get into the app.
The basic profile information eg. name, email and phone number remain correct.
But other information, such as the profile photo, car make & model, car photo, license number, confirmed rides reflected that of the “other” driver.
They could see the wallet details in these other accounts as if it were their own.
