Event forecast: from 24 November, the final of the four large annual IT exhibitions in Singapore will take place for four days (24 – 27 Nov) at the Singapore EXPO, in Halls 5 & 6. SITEX 2016 will open daily from 11 am to 9 pm (Admission FREE).
SITEX is organised by the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SITF) and managed by SingEx Exhibitions, and receives more than 300,000 visitors.
Established in 1988, SITEX 2016 will see more than 500 brands of infocomm and consumer electronic products spread over more than 200,000 sq ft of exhibition space.
SITEX 2016 seems more interesting this year. Apart from the usual vendor booths selling gizmos at discounted prices, there are many booths featuring technology and gaming – eg. smart home technology, even techno dance (DanceTex2016).

SITEX will also deliver a more immersive experience at the four thematic zones – Adventure IT, Gaming Arena and Smart Home and Appliances, which were launched in 2015; as well as the new Tech zone launching this year.
Experience technology at four thematic zones
SITEX will present the latest technologies in a home environment (Smart Home and Appliances), an outdoor and indoor sports environment (Adventure IT zone), a gaming environment (Gaming Arena), and cutting edge technology in the new Tech zone.
Smart Home zone
In the smart home zone, visitors will experience innovative technologies presented by Homeation, powered by Fibaro, a smart home company.
“SITEX remains the only consumer technology expo in Singapore where visitors can personally unlock the benefits of technology in real-world scenarios. Consumers are more sophisticated today, and they are looking beyond just the next bargain in a consumer technology show. ,” said Adrian Sng, General Manager of SingEx Exhibitions.
Fibaro specialises in connecting hardware appliances that can integrate seamlessly from a single source to improve our daily lives, assist with daily chores, reduce safety concerns for the young and the elderly, keep track of our health, and improve home security.
Visitors can experience future-ready technology demonstrations in a realistic mock-up apartment, such as motion sensing technology in your daily appliances like air-conditioning, lighting and security cameras and auto settings for your kitchen appliances.
In addition, visitors can take part in one of the five scheduled group tours to understand how their house can be transformed into an intelligent living space.
Registration and availability of time slots will be online on SITEX website, and participants will stand a chance to walk away with a Fibaro starter kit, worth SGD 799 via the “Trivia and Win” contest. The giveaway will happen daily at SITEX, and there will be four winners in total.
Adventure IT zone
The Adventure IT zone is a high-energy sports area, in collaboration with MegaZip and GoPro, where personal technology devices that inject fun and elevate fitness take centre stage.
“We have listened to the pulse of the market and the voices of our visitors, and we intend to heighten the visitors’ experiences by providing them the first-hand experience on pioneering products and solutions which can enhance home living and family entertainment, improve fitness and dance workouts and others.” added Sng, General Manager of SingEx Exhibitions.
Featuring two trampoline set ups, visitors can participate in the free play trampoline bounce on Mega Air, or form teams to have a go at “CrazyBounce”, a slam dunk arena on trampoline while interacting with GoPro action cameras and other wearable technologies at the Adventure IT zone.
There will be an Adventure IT Showdown, a contest in which participants can submit their best captured slam dunk moments, and stand to win attractive prizes at the “Adventure IT Showdown” happening daily from 6 – 7pm at the “CrazyBounce” Arena.
The interactive sports and entertainment activities are open to all.
Gaming zone
Gaming is no longer restricted to the domain of first-person shooter games, but is much more inclusive with the advent of gamification.
“SITEX is an excellent platform to push for technology innovations in Singapore and be a catalyst to being future-ready.” said Ng Tian Beng, Chairman of SITEX and 1st Vice Chairman of SITF.
Games are now used for entertainment, as well as specialised games for learning and simulation.
SITEX, in collaboration with GamePro Singapore will showcase virtual reality (VR) gaming with an experiential zone to challenge, stimulate, amuse, and thrill.
GameAsia will also be present at the SITEX Gaming zone during the exhibition period.
Tech zone
The new Tech zone is segmented into three areas.
IMDA Pixel Labs, an educational tech area where children from 5 to 16 years old can try their hands on the latest technology applications like 3D printing, programmable toys amongst others.

SITEX Innovation Alley by SiTF, here for the second year running, will enable selected innovative startups to showcase their products and ideas to the public at SITEX 2016.
Featuring new startups with technology innovation ranging from augmented reality, e-commerce, to educational technology amongst others.
SITF provides the opportunity for the young startups to build brand exposure, better their innovations through consumer feedback and to participate in the technology revolution.
NTU Intelligent Systems showcase by the NTU student teams, where they will display and demonstrate their latest and most accomplished work.
To foster community engagement, SITEX will also feature its own-curated Spotify playlist on the show floor.
