SanDisk’s new family of high performance portable SSDs features the faster transfer speeds of the USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 specs. The Extreme 900 Portable SSDs offer Type C connectors, top speeds and higher capacities, while the Extreme 500 series offers portability and ruggedness.

Exactly one year from the launch of Desktop 10, Parallels has released the new Desktop 11 which promises up to 50 percent performance improvements and makes Microsoft’s Cortana available to Mac users in OS X.

Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac is available now to both current and new Parallels Desktop for Mac users worldwide online, and at local retailers including Challenger, EpiCentre, Harvey Norman, iStudio, NuBox and other Apple resellers in Singapore.
Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac Pro Edition is available online and at the Apple online store.
Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac Business Edition is available through commercial resellers.
In addition to the consumer and business edition, Desktop 11 has a new Pro Edition that gives developers, designers and power users more tools and resources to be productive on a Mac.
The Pro Edition has all the features of the Business Edition except for the centralised administration and management (including single key) feature for mass deployment and mass management of Parallels Desktop and Windows VMs for employees.
Also new is a new subscription based licensing scheme for the Business Edition and Pro Edition, while the standard consumer edition remains on a perpetual license scheme.

Samsung has unveiled globally their latest flagship phablets. Both have 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED displays and 4GB RAM. Prices and availability in Singapore below.
The new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 4G+ (left) and S6 edge+ 4G+ comes with 5.7 inch QHD displays and 4GB RAM.

So the “basic flagship” is the Galaxy S6, with the other models being variants offering curved edges, bigger displays and stylus.
The Note 5 offers, as its main differentiator the S Pen stylus, but is essentially on the same hardware/software platform as the S6 series of smartphones.

The new Galaxy Tab S2 comes in 9.7-inch and 8-inch form factors as well as 4G+ and Wi-Fi configurations, with 32GB memory and microSD support up to 128GB.
Prices range from S$598 to S$798 (see below). Black available from 7 August while Gold will be in later August.
At just 5.6mm thin and weighing only 389g (9.7”) and 265g (8.0”), Samsung claims that the Galaxy Tab S2 is the thinnest and lightest tablet of its size in the market, and is packed with powerful performance features to offer enhanced usability, whether for productivity and multitasking, or simply enjoying immersive content anytime, anywhere.
Samsung is targeting users looking for a premium tablet for multimedia entertainment and personal use.
The 4G+ LTE Category 6 capability (for the 4G+ versions) promise users faster Internet access for browsing and downloading content.

Photo of the Day: The Eiffel Tower is an iron lattice tower designed and built by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel in 1889 – as the entrance arch to the World’s Fair in that year.

At 324m tall, the Eiffel Tower is the tallest structure in Paris, and was the tallest in the world for 41 years from 1889 to 1930.
It was surpassed in 1930 by the Chrysler Building in New York City.
Roughly 80 stories high, the base is square with 125m on each side.
There are three levels that visitors can visit.

Huawei launched its Android flagship smartphone – the P8 – during CommunicAsia2015 and showcased three wearable products – the Huawei TalkBand B2, TalkBand N1 and the Huawei Watch. Prices below.
The Huawei P8 measures 144.9 x 72.1 x 6.4mm and weighs 144g.
Richard Yu, CEO of the Huawei Consumer Business Group introduced the Huawei P8 smartphone for the Southern Pacific Region at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

The P8 was first launched globally in London in April this year and is part of the company’s transition from a B2B entity to a consumer centric brand.
The three wearable products – the Huawei TalkBand B2, TalkBand N1 and the Huawei Watch (currently under development) – were all launched at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in March 2015.

HTC’s new entry-level Android smartphone, the Desire 626 is now available in Singapore (S$358).
The 5-inch HTC Desire 626 is slightly smaller than the pricier 5.5-inch Desire 826 (S$498) that hit the shelves in Singapore last week.
