Below are six interesting findings highlighted by SAP.

  1. Singapore is the biggest importer of flowers in comparison to 8 other markets, topping the list with an average spend of USD6.85 of flower imports per capita.
  2. Singapore tops the list again for the highest cocoa imports for chocolate and food preparations, with an average spend of USD 12.60 per capita. Separately, did you know that SAP customers produce 70 percent of the world’s chocolate and distribute more than 71 percent of the world’s food?
  3. Korea consumes 14.8 liters of alcohol per capita, the highest in the region ahead of Australia (10 liters) and New Zealand (9.6 liters). Also, SAP customers produce 64 percent of the world’s ice cream and 72 percent of the world’s beer.
  4. Hong Kong residents are the biggest spenders on tourism per capita ahead of 9 other markets.
  5. Korea has the highest divorce rates per person (2.2%), followed by Australia (2.2%), Singapore (1.9%) and New Zealand (1.9%).
  6. 62% of Indonesians have started retirement planning while only 29% of Japanese started retirement planning.

Infographic: Microsoft Consumer Safety Index on online safety behaviours in Singapore

In conjunction with international Safer Internet Day (SID), Microsoft has today released the results of its third annual Microsoft Computing Safety Index (MCSI).

To support Safer Internet Day, Microsoft is also asking consumers to “Do 1 Thing” to stay safer online and commit to doing so on a new, interactive website.

The MCSI survey measures the online safety behaviour of almost 10,500 consumers in 20 countries, including Singapore and the US, UK, Australia, China and India.

“The Internet is an integral part of our daily lives; we email to stay connected, share photos and videos, pay bills, and shop,” said Stephanie Hung, Director, Public Sector, Microsoft Singapore.

The latest survey revealed that online trouble has resulted in an estimated US$23 billion in worldwide financial losses in 2013, with financial loss due to compromise of professional reputation being the most costly.

Infographic: Skyscanner reveals the best time to book flights in 2014

Have you ever wondered when is the best time to book the air ticket for your travels?

Skyscanner – a global travel search site – recently analysed three years of booking data and found that on average, you can snag the cheapest flight tickets if you purchase 26 weeks ahead of your travel date.

And do you know that the best time to book airtickets to Thailand is 8 weeks before your departure date?

“The earlier in advance you book, the better, especially for long haul destinations. It is also important to note that prices can really increase at the last minute, especially on budget airlines,” according to Kevin Foo, Skyscanner’s Head of Communications for APAC.

Skyscanner’s Best Time to Book analysis revealed that on average, the cheapest flight tickets from Singapore are available 26 weeks in advance of travel dates.

However, three years of booking data has also shown that price patterns can vary by type of airline and between short and long haul travel, and is very much destination dependent.

Special weekend deliveries

Saturday deliveries for mail packets. SingPost’s postmen will be delivering mail packets on all Saturdays in December so that their customers will receive their gifts or purchases on time.

Weekend deliveries for Speedpost. SingPost’s couriers and management staff will be delivering parcels on weekends (i.e. Saturdays and Sundays) till mid January 2014 so that people can receive their gifts/purchases on time.

Sony PlayStation 4 to be launched in Singapore on 19 Dec 2013

The PlayStation 4 (PS4) will be available in Singapore for S$639 on 19 December. 3 bundle sets and 23 launch frame software titles will be released on the same day.

PlayStation fans who pre-ordered the PS4 queued up at Sony’s pop up store at Wisma Atria today to collect their purchases.

Hiroyuki Oda, Deputy President of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia & Atsushi Endo, General Manager, Singapore Marketing Center presented the PS4 set and PS Vita TV to the first and second pre-order buyers.
