What does 2020 hold in store?

What does 2020 hold in store?

2019 was a year of rapid innovation – and disruption – for both the IT industry and the broader business community.

With the widespread adoption of hybrid multicloud as the de-facto architecture for enterprise customers, organisations everywhere are under tremendous pressure to modernise their infrastructure and deliver tangible business value around data-intensive applications and workloads.

Multiclouds & Virtualisation

Multiclouds & Virtualisation

As a result, organisations are shifting from on-premises to leverage public cloud services, building private clouds, and moving from disk to flash in data centers – sometimes concurrently.

These transformations open the door to enormous potential, but also introduce the unintended consequence of rising IT complexity.

We predict that a demand for simplicity and customisability will be the number-one factor driving IT purchasing decisions in 2020.

Data-driven transformations

Vendors will need to provide customers modern, flexible technologies with the choice of how to use and consumes these technologies to meet evolving business models.

As IT departments look to de-emphasise maintenance and hardware, reduce overhead, and adopt pay-as-you-go models, simplicity and choice will be key.

Achieving this simplicity will serve as the foundation for companies as they navigate the exciting technological trends we’ve identified below.

The LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Stick Vacuum offers vacuuming and mopping from a single stick-type device, while the new CordZeroThinQ Robotic Mop combines LG’s robotics and appliance knowhow in a compact package.

“With more consumers today opting for hard floors, it was apparent that vacuums alone wouldn’t satisfy everyone. By leveraging our technological expertise and in-depth understanding of consumers’ needs, we developed CordZero ThinQ products to handle the most challenging cleaning jobs,” said Dan Song, president of the LG Home Appliance & Air Solution Company.

LG’s proprietary Power Drive MopTM technology drives both the CordZeroThinQ A9 and CordZeroThinQ Robotic Mop.

An automatic water supply system enables the two rapidly rotating mop pads to have just the right amount of water to clean without leaving a puddle behind.

To accommodate different types of flooring and cleaning power, users can choose to increase, decrease or completely shut off the flow of water.

Event: Vivo NEX 3 Roadshow #FutureBeyondEdges

November 9th, 2019

I popped down to the Vivo #FutureBeyondEdges roadshow at Bedok Mall today and tried out the exciting new flagship smartphone – NEX 3 – that was launched in Singapore last week.

Mediacorp Artiste Elvin Ng with Liu Hong Bin, CEO of Vivo Singapore and the new Vivo Nex 3 flagship smartphone (S$1,299) at the #FutureBeyondEdges roadshow at Bedok Mall.

Mediacorp Artiste Elvin Ng with Liu Hong Bin, CEO of Vivo Singapore and the new Vivo Nex 3 flagship smartphone (S$1,299) at the #FutureBeyondEdges roadshow at Bedok Mall.

Based on first impressions, I like the “no edges – no buttons” design of the premium phone.

The 6.89-inch POLED Waterfall Fullview Display (1080 x 2256 FHD+) extends over the curved edges on both sides and offers an immersive visual experience with the high 99.6% screen-to-body ratio.

All around the edges, there’re no buttons at all, except for the diminutive power button which is so flushed with the side that it’s hardly noticeable.

The volume up/down “buttons” on either side of the power button are totally invisible because they use embedded sensors.

The fingerprint sensor is in-display on the front, so you don’t see any fingerprint sensor at the rear.

There is also face-unlock should the fingerprint authentication fail three times.

The triple rear cameras come with a 64-megapixel main camera, as well as a 13MP wide-angle camera and 13MP telescopic camera that takes pretty impressive macro photos.
