Huawei FreeBuds 5i, a True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbuds, will hit the shelves in Singapore from 1 February 2023. Prices and promotions below.
The Huawei FreeBuds 5i comes in Isle Blue, Nebula Black, and Ceramic White.
The Huawei FreeBuds 5i continues to offer multiple ANC (active noise cancellation) and EQ modes, as well as Dual Device Connection for seamless switchover between different devices and operating systems.
It weighs only 4.9g and is 29mm long – that’s 7mm shorter than the FreeBuds 4i.

The new Jabra Elite 3 (S$128, 8 Sep), Elite 7 Active (S$268, 15 Oct) and Elite 7 Pro (S$318, 15 Oct) will be available in Singapore at selected retailers.

The three new wireless earbuds are from the Elite Pro, Elite Active and core Elite product lines of Jabra, catering to different use cases.

Huawei launched the FreeBuds 4 TWS (True Wireless Stereo) earbuds for APAC less than two weeks ago and I’ve been trying it out since then. Pre-orders for the earbuds are now open from today till 23 July, 2021 before it hits Singapore shelves on the 24 July.
Here’s my Silver Frost version of the new Huawei FreeBuds 4. Also available is Ceramic White.
I like the physical design for the FreeBuds 4, especially the chrome shiny metallic Silver Frost colourway.
The other colour available is the Ceramic White version, which looks similar to Apple AirPods.
In the box are the earbuds, the charging case, a USB-C cable and the regular documentation that includes a quick-start guide, safety information, warranty card and warranty certificate.
Latest Stories for Huawei FreeBuds 4
Currently only the wired charging version of the FreeBuds 4 has been launched.
There is a slightly more expensive wireless charging version that is not available yet.

Apple is also bringing lossless audio to its entire catalogue for Apple Music subscribers – from June 2021 at no additional cost.
Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio are coming to Apple Music subscribers beginning June 2021.
Apple today announced Apple Music is bringing industry-leading sound quality to subscribers with the addition of Spatial Audio with support for Dolby Atmos.
Spatial Audio gives artists the opportunity to create immersive audio experiences for their fans with true multidimensional sound and clarity.
Apple Music subscribers will also be able to listen to more than 75 million songs in Lossless Audio — the way the artists created them in the studio.
These new features will be available for Apple Music subscribers starting next month at no additional cost.

The Jabra Elite 85t (S$348) enables users to control how much noise to cancel and block.

With five levels of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and five levels of Hear Through, the user can select up to 11 levels of noise filtration – with about 3dB difference between each level.

Priced at S$348, the Jabra Elite 85t will be available in Titanium Black from all authorised Jabra resellers from 19 November 2020 onwards.
Gold Beige, Grey and Copper Black (Amazon exclusive) will be available in the first quarter of 2021.
A dedicated ANC chip drives the noise cancellation for the Jabra Elite 85t, supported by six microphones and wind protection for clear audio and voice call quality in any environment the user may be in.
The new semi-open design for the earbuds offers better comfort while keeping the fit secure.
The Elite 85t provides up to 5.5 hours of battery life with up to 25 hours in compact charging case – with ANC on.

Ideal wireless earbuds for the fitness-conscious. Pretty design, snug fit, great sound quality. These were the earbuds of choice that saw my wife through the COVID-19 months and accompanied her on her morning jogs.

Co-created by athletes, the in-ear headphones has been designed specifically for runners and is now available in Singapore (S$249).
“Wired wireless” in-ear sports earphones from adidas: FWD-01.
Launched jointly by adidas and Stockholm-based Zound Industries – the earphones combines the latter’s audio technology with the former’s knowhow in sports ergonomics.
My Take
A little bit pricey, the adidas FWD-01 is a pair of solid wireless in-ear headphones for runners, boasting decent audio quality, a long 16-hour battery life and the ability to quick-charge. What I liked a lot was its IPX4 rated sweat resistance.
On first looks, I like the ergonomic and minimalist design of the sweat-proof FWD-01, which weighs 26g and has a tangle-free cable that’s 47.5cm long.
The knitted fabric gives the earphones a nice shoelace appearance consistent with the fabric on some of adidas’ sports shoes.
The control buttons on the cord is easy-to-find and enables full control of all the basic functionalities of the earphones viz. play/pause, volume up/down, answer/end phone calls, power on/off or pair.

An Action button is programmable (using the companion app) as a shortcut for up to three different actions, triggered by either 1, 2, or 3 clicks.
