IMEC Collaborates With NUS On Quantum Communication Networks

Today, imec and the National University of Singapore (NUS) announced the signing of a research collaboration agreement to develop chip-based prototypes for secure quantum communication networks.

In the frame of this five-year agreement, imec and NUS will jointly develop scalable, robust and efficient technologies for quantum key distribution and quantum random number generation, which are amongst the basic building blocks of a truly secure Quantum Internet.

Apple Unveils iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, Watch Series 5 & iPad 2019

Singapore customers can begin pre-ordering the phones from Friday, 13 September, with prices that start from S$1,149. The phones will hit the stores next week from 20 September.

The iPhone 11 comes with six colour options while the iPhone 11 Pro has three.

The basic iPhone 11 comes with dual-cameras with prices at US$700 compared to the US$750 price of its single-camera predecessor.

The additional camera enhances the background blur effect in portrait mode, and allows the mode for non-human subjects..

The two flagships iPhone Pro (US$1,000) and iPhone Pro Max (US$1,100) will have more than four hours of extra battery life. Their prices are maintained at last year’s levels.

Both iPhone Pro now comes with triple lens – one more than last year’s flagships) – while all models this year include the new ultrawide lens, like the one in the Samsung Galaxy S10 earlier this year.

The two new devices join the existing Fitbit Versa and Fitbit Aria.

Clarifications on Fitbit’s Collaboration With Health Promotion Board

Both Fitbit and HPB have clarified that media reports that the Singapore government is planning to give away one million free Fitbit devices are not correct.

Fitbit Collaborates With Singapore’s Health Promotion Board

Named “Live Healthy SG”, the population-based public health initiative with the Singapore Government is Fitbit’s first major integration of its digital health platform and wearables into a national public health program.
