CES 2024: AMD is introducing two new devices – the Versal AI Edge XA adaptive SoC and Ryzen Embedded V2000A Series processor – for next-generation automotive systems.
Working alongside a growing automotive partner ecosystem, AMD will demonstrate at CES 2024 the broad range of capabilities and applications for these new devices in automotive solutions available today and in the future.
The Versal AI Edge XA adaptive SoC and Ryzen Embedded V2000A Series processor are designed to serve key automotive focus segments including infotainment, advanced driver safety and autonomous driving.

Versal AI Edge XA adaptive SoCs add an advanced AI Engine, enabling the devices to be further optimised for numerous next-generation advanced automotive systems and applications including: forward cameras, in-cabin monitoring, LiDAR, 4D radar, surround-view, automated parking and autonomous driving.
Versal AI Edge XA adaptive SoCs are also the first AMD 7nm device to be auto-qualified, bringing hardened IP and added security to automotive applications where safety is paramount.
Ryzen Embedded V2000A Series processors power the next-generation automotive digital cockpit, from the infotainment console to the digital cluster and passenger displays.
The expansion of the AMD Ryzen Embedded V2000A Series brings the first x86 auto-qualified processor family to offer the same PC-like experience consumers have come to expect from home entertainment which they can now enjoy in-vehicle, on the go.

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 at Las Vegas, Intel announced the release of its latest wave of 14nm processors, promising improved system and graphics performance, more natural and immersive user experiences, and longer battery life compared to previous generations.
5th Generation Intel Core technology unveiled at CES 2015
Key benefits of the 5th Generation Intel Core family and the next-generation 14nm processor for tablets include:
- More powerful performance with 35% more transistors on a 37% smaller die.
- Power efficiency for up to 1.5 hours better battery life than the previous generation.
- The next evolution in processor graphics architecture that enable 4K Ultra HD display.
- Better support for the Internet of Things with a smaller thermal envelope.
- Provides the foundation for great user experiences today and in the future with Intel technology such as RealSense 3D and wireless innovations.
The release of the 5th Generation Intel Core technology includes 14 new processors for consumers and businesses, including 10 new 15W processors with Intel HD Graphics and four new 28W products with Intel Iris Graphics.

I was wondering how well Intel has penetrated the mobile market. Here are some quick updates from Jonathan Ong, Area Sales Manager of Intel Singapore & Malaysia.
Intel’s Atom processors are being adopted in smartphones and tablets in the mobile devices market.
According to the September report of the Strategy Analytics, Intel ranked second in Application Processor Shipment in Q2 of 2014.
The keys to their mobile strategy:
- Compute performance based on true 64-bit architecture
- Global communications platforms
- Leading manufacturing technology
Intel Atom processors focus on providing the performance demanded by today’s road warriors.
There are now more than 200 smartphone/tablet designs currently in the market or coming this year in over 150 countries.

The latest Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v3.
Intel has introduced the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 v3 product families to address the requirements of diverse workloads and the rapidly evolving needs of data centers.
Pricing
The Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 product family will be offered with 26 different parts that range in price from $213 to $2,702 in quantities of 1,000.
Intel Xeon processor E5-1600 workstations will be offered with six different parts in prices ranging from $295 to $1,723.
The new processor families include numerous enhancements that provide performance increases of up to 3x over the previous generation, world-class energy efficiency and enhanced security.
To facilitate the explosive demand for software defined infrastructure (SDI), the processors expose key metrics, through telemetry, which enable the infrastructure to deliver services with the best performance, resilience and optimised total cost of ownership.

Apple is making the MacBook Pro with Retina display faster and more affordable with updated processors and lower starting prices.
Available from today (suggested retail prices indicated include GST).
The MacBook Pro with Retina display features flash storage that is up to four times faster than traditional notebook hard drives, and delivers improved reliability, instant-on responsiveness and up to 30 days of standby time.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display now starts at S$1,988 for 128GB of flash, and S$2,288 for a new 2.6 GHz processor and 256GB of flash.
