SGMotorshow2023: Toyota Showcases Corolla Cross, GR86 & bZ4X

At the Singapore Motorshow 2023, Toyota launched the Corolla Cross family SUV, unveiled the new GR86 sports car, and introduced the bZ4X electric SUV.

The new Toyota GR86 can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 6.3s.

The Corolla Cross is the family friendly SUV for the bestselling Toyota Corolla.

SGMotorshow2023: Hyundai IONIQ 5 is First Made-in-Singapore Electric Vehicle

Hyundai has unveiled the first made-in-Singapore EV, the ‘IONIQ 5 First 100’ – limited edition and Singapore-exclusive – with special car plate numbers and badges. View it at the Singapore Motorshow 2023. Unveiling video below.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 will come in Gravity Gold Matte, with Dark Pebble Grey interiors. It will also feature debossed seats for refined detail. The special number plate “EVS” stands for “EV made in Singapore”.

Nissan will showcase its widest line-up of electrified vehicles at the Singapore Motorshow 2023, fronted by the Nissan Ariya and Nissan X-Trail e-POWER.

Event Forecast: Singapore Motorshow 2023 Returns (12-15 Jan)

Singapore Motorshow 2023 returns after a three year hiatus. In partnership with Mediacorp and sponsored by HL Bank, AIG and Motul, the show will be held at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre with 25 participating brands.

The Singapore Motorshow 2023 will showcase new car models, concept cars, electric and electrified vehicles; as well as the Russ Swift stunt car performances; and the chance to meet Mediacorp celebrities.

Hyundai Singapore Holds Innovation Competition for Youths

Hyundai Motor Group today celebrated the finale of its first open innovation competition for Singaporean youth at the School of Science and Technology (SST).

The competition theme presented business cases and design ideas for Purpose-Built Vehicle (PBV).

“HMGICS is pleased to hold our first open innovation competition for Singaporean youth. HMGICS will continue to explore smart future mobility innovations by growing together with Singapore. This open innovation competition program for Singapore youth showcases our strong commitment to realize this vision. We also believe the work experience with SST will continue to help future growth of Singaporean youth in science & engineering for the sustainable future innovation in Singapore”, said Hong Bum Jung, Chief Executive Officer of HMGICS.

Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center in Singapore (HMGICS), with the aim of better engaging Singaporean youth in the Group’s future mobility innovation, held the competition beginning this May.

The participating schools were River Valley High school, United World College, and the School of Science and Technology.

A total of 17 teams participated in the competition.

The Guest of Honor, Minister for Transport and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, S Iswaran presented the awards to the winning teams.

With four evaluation criteria (Social Impact, Creativity of Solution, Technical Accomplishment, Business Development), SST Team 2 won 1st place and was awarded vouchers and the work opportunity at HMGICS.

As part of the 3-month long competition, participating students received mentorships and lectures on the mobility industry, engineering design, and business.

Event Forecast: Toyota GAZOO Racing GT Cup Makes a Comeback

The Singapore leg of the Toyota GAZOO Racing Gran Turismo Cup (TGR GT Cup) Global series resumes this year on Gran Turismo 7 on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. This is the fourth installment of the global SIM racing competition and the third iteration of the Singapore edition.

This year the competition features a selection of Toyota GR lineups, in which players will get to push their limits through renowned circuits and experience the thrill of racing. This includes the nostalgic Toyota Supra GT500 ’97 (Castrol TOM’S) model.

The Semi-Finals and Finals will be held on 4 September 2022, with winners advancing to the TGR GT Cup ASIA 2022 online on 9 October 2022.

“Since 2020, Borneo Motors Singapore has brought to life the thrill of experiencing motorsports races to local e-sports enthusiasts with our Toyota GAZOO Racing GT Cup. We look forward to hosting yet another exciting year of the race in Singapore and through this competition, we hope that Toyota is able to make motorsports more accessible and enjoyable across generations,” shares Samuel Yong, Director of Strategic Marketing and Business Strategy at Borneo Motors Singapore.

The TGR GT Cup Singapore 2022 commenced with Qualifiers on 13 August 2022, with more than 36 participants to date.

Eventually, only 24 of the fastest competitors will advance to the Semi-Finals.

During the Semis, two groups of 12 racers will compete in two races per group, with the top six racers from each group going into the Finals.

In the Finals, racers will compete in three races, with the overall top three competitors getting onto the podium.

Through this competition, Toyota hopes to make e-motorsports accessible by providing opportunities for racing enthusiasts to experience the thrill of racing Toyota GR cars
on iconic circuits.
