#tech4travel: When I’m on road or go on vacation, the most important laptop accessory I bring along is the Belkin Connect USB-C 7-in-1 Multiport Hub Adapter, which expands the limited connectivity options on the ultraportable laptop that I bring along.
The Belkin Connect USB-C 7-in-1 Multiport Hub Adapter is a must-have accessory for my ultraportable laptop when I’m on vacation and on the road.
For full connectivity on my Work From Home workspace, the centerpiece is my Belkin Connect USB-C 11-in-1 Multiport Dock, which provides full compatibility and connectivity for my laptop to other devices and peripherals, including those using legacy ports such as VGA ports.
When I go on vacation, or present at clients’ offices, I usually bring an ultraportable laptop which has a limited number of physical ports for the sake of compactness.
The Belkin Connect USB-C 7-in-1 Multiport Hub Adapter has an RRP of S$109 in Singapore.
There are actually some ultraportable laptops out there that have a sum total of ONE USB-C port!

#t4tWorkFromHome: One of the most important accessories on my Work From Home setup is the Belkin Connect USB-C 11-in-1 Multiport Dock, because it turns my laptop into a well-connected workstation.
The Belkin Connect USB-C 11-in-1 Multiport Dock is the connection central for my Work-From-Home setup.
The Belkin Connect USB-C 11-in-1 Multiport Dock enables me to connect my laptop to a whole host of other devices and peripherals without having to worry about a shortage of ports on my laptop, especially when using an ultraportable laptop which usually suffers from a dearth of ports.
The Belkin Connect USB-C 11-in-1 Multiport Dock has an RRP of S$149 in Singapore.
The 11-in-1 Multiport Dock also allows my laptop to connect to other devices when the laptop does not have the correct port (e.g HDMI or Ethernet ports) or the connected device still uses legacy ports (eg. VGA video port).
This can come in useful when going to a new presentation venue and you’re not sure what kind of devices (and connectors) the venue uses.
So on my workspace at home, my laptop is connected to an external monitor via the HDMI port on the 11-in-1 Multiport Dock.
My ultraportable doesn’t have an HDMI port so the dock is a godsend in hooking up my ultraportable to the 4K monitor.
The 11-in-1 Multiport Dock also has DisplayPort and VGA video ports as well.
For power, the Multiport Dock supports pass-through charging up to 100W.

What’s the home printer of choice for my #WorkFromHome setup? It’s the ApeosPrint C325 dw colour laser printer from FUJIFILM Business Innovation Corp.
The compact ApeosPrint C325 dw single-function duplex and wireless colour laser printer from FUJIFILM Innovation Corp makes a suitable printer for a #WorkFromHome workspace and at front-facing counter-tops of businesses.
First off, FUJIFILM Business Innovation Corp is actually the new name for the former Fuji Xerox after the joint venture company (between FUJIFILM and Xerox) came under FUJIFILM.
As you may know, Fuji Xerox was a global leader in laser printers, especially for enterprises and business users.
My Take
The ApeosPrint C325 dw single-function laser printer is a suitable printer for #WorkFromHome and small businesses.
Its print quality and speed, ink economy, ease of use, as well as compactness, duplex and wireless capability make it a versatile printer for the home and at customer-facing counters.
The ApeosPrint C325 dw single-function printer is the smallest and lightest printer model in their lineup and is targeted towards counter services, clinics and small businesses.
I have been using the printer for the past few months and find it a suitable printer for the #WFH workspace considering its performance, economy, ease-of-use, reliability and compact footprint.
The key requirements I have for a home printer (for work) is print quality and compactness, as well as the ability to print colour, double-sided, and from a wireless network.
Naturally, factors like print speed, ink/toner economy, and maintainability also weigh in.

The core of most #WorkFromHome workspace is the computer, around which everything else is built around. It’s important to start on the right foot and get a good computer that has the performance and connectivity to anchor your entire #WFH setup.
The Dell Latitude 9420 2-in-1 laptop is a great desktop replacement for #WFH that can be brought on the road with its compactness, long battery life and 5G LTE connectivity.
What does one look out for in a home computer for #WorkFromHome?
For me, it must have the performance to handle most work-related activities, ranging from basic tasks like word processing and surfing the Web (for accessing emails, research and other cloud-based activities), to more demanding photo editing and video editing for content production.
Dell Latitude 9520 2-in-1 laptop freshly unboxed. Included is a 90W power supply. Dimensions: H: 0.71″ (18 mm) | W: 13.4″ (340.3 mm) | D: 8.49″ (215.8 mm)
I eschewed desktop computers a long time ago, in favour of notebook computers for space saving and the flexibility of bringing them on the road.
The disadvantage of a small display is easily overcome at home with an external large monitor.

Want to improve the quality, speed and coverage of your home Wi-Fi for #WorkFromHome and #HomeBasedLearning? I’ve been using the E9450 WiFi6 EasyMesh Router from Linksys since its launch half a year ago and I’m very happy that it has delivered.
The Linksys E9450 Dual Band WiFi 6 Mesh router to expand Wi-Fi coverage and performance for #WorkFromHome and #HomeBasedLearning, as well as for gaming.
I’ve been using a telco-provided router for years – it has served me well although it could not reach the study, the bedrooms and the garden outside – so Internet access has always been confined to the kitchen, living and dining rooms.
Living in the Digital Age
In this digital age that we are living in, access to the Internet has become a basic necessity of any home – much like water and electricity is indispensable in any facility.
So one of the first things you’ll need to begin #WorkFromHome and #HomeBasedLearning – in this trying time of the COVID-19 pandemic – is a broadband subscription with enough bandwidth to support the data-access needs of the entire household.
Once you’ve subscribed to a broadband subscription from an Internet Service Provider (ISP), you’ll need to set up a robust Local Area Network (LAN) to channel the Internet access to devices around the household – just like you’ll need pipings and electrical wiring to distribute water and electricity to all parts of the home.
The fastest and most reliable LAN is one based on a wired Ethernet network – but most often than not, most apartments have not been wired up and you’ll need a good router to set up a wireless Wi-Fi network instead.
Beyond the reaches of the old router, we had to switch on the mobile data connections on our handphones and hotspot the data to devices (speakers and computers etc) without a mobile data connection.
You can imagine how frustrating and limiting (and expensive) that can be.
And as the number of Internet-lusting devices being used in the household began growing rapidly, connection quality began to deteriorate, with slow speeds and dropped connections occurring more frequently.
Which was why I decided to upgrade the old router with the Linksys E9450 WiFi6 EasyMesh Router.
To expand the coverage of my home Wi-Fi network, I deployed a 2-node (1 parent + 1 child node) mesh network.
This was because a single-node network provided roughly a similar spatial network as my old router, probably because it was a matter of physical topology due to the layout.
The optical network terminal (ONT) for Singtel’s fibre optic network is located at one end of my apartment near the main entrance – instead of the center of the entire apartment – hence the distance between the router (which is connected by wire to the ONT) and the bedrooms tend to render the Wi-Fi signals too weak for connection.
I have a Network Attached Storage (NAS) connected (by wire) to the E9450 so that devices can upload/download files/photos and stream music/videos wirelessly via the Wi-Fi network. Another reason why I need a good Wi-Fi network with reach and performance.
So with a second E9450 router placed at the far end of the living room, the coverage of the Wi-Fi network was successfully extended to every bedroom – because the second router was located at the center of the entire apartment.
