Dell launches new series of gaming laptops and stars in Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and The Wasp” movie. Models and prices below.

Moving from “Inspiron Gaming” to the “Dell G Series”, the new family introduces a new look for two new gaming laptops in Singapore.

The Dell G3 15 and Dell G7 15 feature gaming-forward designs and snappy performances at affordable prices.
These new G Series gaming laptops come equipped with 8th Gen Intel® Core™ high performance processors and NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 10 Series graphics processing units (GPUs).
The high performance gaming laptops play a role in Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and The Wasp” movie which was released around the world today.
Dell hardware, including Dell EMC PowerEdge servers and Dell Precision workstations, were used to produce visual special effects for the film.
Offering gaming solutions for players of all levels and budgets, Dell today announced two new Windows 10 gaming PCs – the Dell G3 15 and Dell G7 15 systems – at a private screening of Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and The Wasp” film in Singapore.

tech4xmas 2017 gift recommendation: One of few gadgets that totally blew me away and convinces me it is worth its high-end price tag. The road warrior would love to have this as his/her Christmas present. I know I would be absolutely elated!
My take: “The LG gram 14 excels streaks ahead in all four areas that are critical to me – lightweight, battery-life, startup-time, and external connectivity.”
Notebooks are such a commodity nowadays that you can get a pretty decent one that meets your needs at an affordable price.
The pricier ones are usually the flagship models of each manufacturer that, in my personal opinion, offer only marginal additional benefits for a huge surcharge.
LG Red Fair promotions
The LG Red Fair is now ongoing until 15 February, 2018, offering promotional deals on LG solutions – for home entertainment systems, home appliances, mobile devices, and IT devices.
The 14-inch gram 14 is selling at a discounted S$2,099 (Intel i7 CPU) & S$1,899 (Intel i5 CPU). Both ship with 512GB SSD & 8GB RAM.
Also available is the 15.6-inch, 8GB RAM gram 15, selling at S$2,499 (8th Gen Intel i7 CPU, 512GB SSD) & S$2,099 (Intel i5 CPU, 256GB SSD).

And usually much of these additional features are in the department of styling and design that, as a pragmatic user, I don’t really care.
So when I tried out the 14-inch LG gram 14 (14Z970), I was pleasantly surprised to find myself planning it as my next purchase – despite its relatively high price tag.
Specs wise, it’s no doubt high end – gram is the only notebook series that LG sells in Singapore.
But what impressed me was how it really stood out in the areas that matters to me – and I mean really stand out!
Firstly, the light weight at 970g. I believe it’s the lightest notebook I’ve ever used, with its enhanced durability Magnesium alloy body.
It’s so light I took a double take when I first handled it – wondering if it was a plastic mockup, even though I knew full well it was a real functioning notebook.

Hong Kong-based E-Huge Technology launches three new Avengers-themed Windows 10 notebooks/2-in-one devices in Singapore. Prices & availability below.
The new laptops are targeted at fans of Marvel Avengers.
All three devices will be available from 10 December, and include 4GB DDR3 RAM and Atom x5 Z8300 CPU.
The notebooks were launched in Hungry Heroes cafe in Singapore.
Decorated with the Avengers logo and the signature design motifs of Captain America and Iron Man, these Windows 10 devices come in three distinct form factors.

Dell announced its new line of VR-ready Alienware notebooks – the Alienware 15 and 17 – that boast the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10-Series family of GPUs, enabling up to 85% better performance than the previous generation of Alienware notebooks.

The new Alienware notebooks are capable of powering VR out-of-the-box, and compatible with both Oculus and HTC Vive headsets.
Engineered for gamers, the Alienware 17 gains more power with overclocked Intel Core i7 k-series processors and Tobii eye-tracking technology to optimise immersive gameplay.

Parallels Desktop 12 for Mac launches with 20 smart and simple Mac and Windows tools, macOS Sierra Readiness, and over 25 percent performance improvements. Tools to simplify common tasks will also be available as part of standalone Parallels Toolbox for Mac app.

From today, the newest version of Google Chromecast will be available in Singapore from M1 and Lazada retailers at S$65.
The new Google Chromecast (S$65) has a brand new look and is now available in black.
Chromecast turns any TV into a smart TV by streaming the display of a Chromebook or an Android, iOS, Windows device onto a any television with an HDMI port.
With fresh content and an updated app to find entertainment, the new Chromecast promises to make streaming easier and up to 6.5x faster than its predecessor.

The Transformer Book T100HA is an ideal laptop-cum-tablet hybrid companion for the mobile warrior looking for good performance, portability, connectivity and long battery life – all at an affordable price of S$499.
The ASUS Transformer Book T100HA 2-in-1 hybrid features the latest quad-core Intel® Atom™ x5 ‘Cherry Trail’ processors, Windows 10 (64-bit) operating system with Cortana, the voice-powered personal assistant, and support for Windows 10 Continuum adaptive interface technology.
I used the Transformer Book T100HA from ASUS for two weeks as I went about between meetings and events on the road, to see how usable the hybrid 2-in-1 laptop-cum-tablet would be for someone constantly on the move.
Lighter & thinner than predecessors, the tablet measures 265 x 175 x 8.45mm physically and weighs 580g, while the keyboard dock measures 265 x 175 x 10mm and weighs 470g.
I found the device ideally suited as a workhorse for the typical mobile warrior – it’s compact and therefore highly portable, and its battery easily lasts an entire workday before you put it to charge when you retire for the night back at home or at the hotel.
For leisure, you can simply pull the screen off the keyboard dock and use it as a tablet.
Typically, a compact machine like this – and even those super-thin but larger Ultrabooks – suffer from a dearth of connectivity ports.
But the tablet/screen portion of the T100HA comes with 1 x Micro USB port, 1 x Type-C USB 3.1 Gen 1 port, 1 x Micro HDMI, 1 x Micro SD card slot and 1 x headphone/mic combo jack.
The ASUS Transformer Book T100HA sports a durable aluminium-clad lid available in four colours: Rouge Pink, Aqua Blue, Silk White and Tin Grey.
The keyboard dock has an additional full-sized USB 2.0 port.
This means you can connect a mouse, an external hard disk drive and a mobile device all at the same time if you need/want to.
