Review: Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni Flagship Robot Vacuum Mop

Sunday, October 15th, 2023

Freshly launched in Singapore last month, the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni (S$1,699) takes the tedium out of cleaning by automating everything from vacuum and mopping to emptying the dustbin, refiling the clean water, and washing/drying the mop pads.

I recall my first robot cleaner was the original Roomba iRobot which did one single thing – autonomously vacuum the entire home.

The second robot I bought was an Ecovacs Deebot which could mop in addition to vacuuming.

Both had a basic dock with the sole function of charging the robot.

Many robots later, I’m back to testing out the Ecovacs, this time round an all-singing-all-dancing flagship model – the Deebot X2 Omni.

Like the flagship models of other brands today, in addition to the robot vacuuming and mopping the floor, the dock is capable of auto-emptying the dustbin, refilling the water container, and washing the mop cloths on the robot.

What is less common that the X2 Omni can do is to wash the mop cloths with hot water, and to dry the mop cloths with hot air after washing.

Interview: Joan Hu – Overseas Southeast Asia Director, Roborock

Joan Hu, Overseas Southeast Asia Director at Roborock, shares her insights into Roborock’s success and decision to expand into Southeast Asia.

Joan Hu is the Overseas Southeast Asia Director at Roborock.

Joan Hu is the Overseas Southeast Asia Director at Roborock.

To get an idea of Roborock’s journey thus far and its plans for the future, I asked Joan Hu six questions.

Q1. Roborock recorded a strong growth in China since its introduction. What do you think contributed to this?

In the robot vacuum market back in 2014, most available products only focused on the basic needs that came with a vacuum – cleaning.

We saw an opportunity to fulfill needs and wants that consumers didn’t know they had yet.

Hence, we grew our R&D department with a team of engineers, scientists, manufacturing experts and designers – all vital to create products that truly fit our users’ lifestyle.

Q2. Any new vacuum launches this year?

We have just launched the Roborock S6 MaxV in early 2020.

This is an upgrade of our popular Roborock S6, with increased suction power of up to 2,500 Pa (compared to the previous 2000 Pa) to clean even the most stubborn of dusts, especially those on carpets.

It also comes with an electronic water tank instead of a mop attachment for increased convenience and weighs lighter at just 7 lbs.

Q3. 2020 isn’t the most economically stable year. What factors contributed to Roborock’s decision to expand its influence to SouthEast Asia?

While we admit it has been a challenging year across all markets, we see this as a great opportunity to introduce our high tech products to our Southeast Asian consumers.

Epson launches N2 robots with compact folding arm technology

Saturday, April 8th, 2017

The patented compact folding arm technology in the new N2 robots feature is a world’s first innovation in 6-axis robot design that brings extreme maneuverability, improving efficiency of motion for complex and high precision assembly tasks.

The new N2 robots were showcased for the first time at the Epson booth at Manufacturing Technology Asia 2017, from 4 to 7 April 2017.

The new N2 robots were showcased for the first time at the Epson booth at Manufacturing Technology Asia 2017, from 4 to 7 April 2017.

Epson, a leading industrial robot manufacturer, launched its new N2 series of compact 6-axis robots at Manufacturing Technology Asia 2017.

“With the N2 robots, companies can easily automate their assembly line with minimal design change to the current line layout, while dramatically enhancing productivity. Indeed, these new line of robots with its revolutionary technology, has brought a new breakthrough to the market and challenges current assembly line standards,” said Ng Ngee Khiang, Regional General Manager (Southeast Asia), Industrial Robotics, Epson Singapore.

The Epson N2 robots have the unique ability to fold through itself, versus moving around.

This reduces the number of intermediate points and shortens cycle times.

Designed for confined workspaces and smaller payloads, the N2 robot reduces required workspace area by up to 40% compared to standard 6-Axis robots.

The robots are able to operate in areas as small as 600mm x 600mm, enabling more efficient assembly line layout and improved productivity.
