Toyota Motor Vietnam, one of Vietnam’s largest automobile manufacturers, is partnering with Synology to strengthen its data management infrastructure for its growing data storage and resiliency demands.
Toyota Motor Vietnam is deploying Synology’s data management infrastructure as a comprehensive solution to enhance business resilience and to achieve a 75% savings in data backup costs.
Toyota Motor Vietnam deployed Synology data management systems to securely store hundreds of terabytes of data that are generated from assembling tens of thousands of vehicles per year.
“Synology’s storage solution has increased our business resilience. Synology is reliable, secure, and provides future-proofing scalability for growing data needs,” said Bui Ta Hoan, IT Division Head at Toyota Motor Vietnam.
Together with Synology’s high availability and remote data protection features, Toyota Motor Vietnam’s IT infrastructure is now more resilient against disruptions.
The impetus for the rollout comes from the growth of production scale at Toyota Motor Vietnam over the years, which resulted in the need for more data storage for operation services and crucial data backups.
To safeguard their data from potential threats like ransomware, natural disasters, and human errors, Toyota Motor Vietnam sought a disaster-recovery solution.

With the growing demand for storage space at home, I’ve set up an NAS (Network Attached Storage) with three Seagate IronWolf Pro 14TB NAS HDD (Hard Disk Drive) in a Synology DS918+ DiskStation. Just in time for World Backup Day 2021 today.
The three Seagate IronWolf Pro 14TB HDD freshly unwrapped (lower photo) and just prior to installation into the Synology DS918+ DiskStation NAS.
With the exponentially increasing demand for storage space, businesses and home users constantly find themselves exhausting whatever storage they have – be it to store text documents, databases, photos or huge video files.
The NAS sitting pretty alongside the Linksys E9450 router, all set up with RAID5 in a Synology DS918+ DiskStation with three Seagate IronWolf Pro 14TB HDDs within.
And with the COVID-19 pandemic, employees are working from home and students are doing home-based learning – resulting in large increases in demand for storage needs at home eg. if you’re a creative pro who now have to do your video-editing at home instead of at the office.
The three Seagate IronWolf Pro 14TB HDDs and Synology DS918+ DiskStation NAS just prior to unboxing.
Having gotten by with a desktop expansion HDD connected to my work laptop, I’ve decided to set up an NAS at home – to not only increase storage capacity but also to share that storage with all members of the family.

Once in a while, you come across a device that does it all – and does it well. When it comes to a mobile storage companion, Trek iSSD ticks the check boxes of all the functionalities that I’ve always wanted in a single device.
In the box: Trek iSSD, USB Type-C data cable, user manual, microSD card adaptor, pouch.
Three of biggest problems holding back a mobile worker on the move are: storage space, battery power and the ability to share.
With the limited storage space on notebooks, tablets and mobile phones, workers on the move quickly run out of storage space on their mobile devices, especially if their work require huge media files that they have to present at meetings and discuss with their clients.
The Trek iSSD measures 120 x 75 x 15mm and weighs 230g. It has an aluminum alloy frame with glass cover.
At home, the easy solution is to buy a desktop hard disk drive (HDD) with a huge capacity eg. 6-12TB – but it is not something you can bring on the road.

Pure becomes first leading storage provider to deliver NVMe-oF RoCE with DirectFlash Fabric.
With this announcement, Pure becomes the first mainstream enterprise storage provider to widely support NVMe-oF RoCE, which enables enterprises to get flash media closer to applications for more real-time access and greater consolidation.
Pure Storage, the all-flash storage provider today announced it has added powerful new DirectFlash™ Fabric capability for end-to-end NVMe and NVMe-oF support in Purity 5.2, the software-defined engine of its FlashArray//X products.
“The future is delivering applications and services at the speed of thought. To do this, applications can no longer live within barriers, they must interact, intercommunicate and share datasets in real-time. Architectures must converge alongside the data, and break down the barriers that exist today. DirectFlash Fabric is a key component for helping enterprises unify their cloud,” said Chadd Kenney, Vice President of Product and Solutions, Pure Storage.
The new capability further extends Pure’s leadership in empowering customers to approach hybrid cloud with a new level of unified infrastructure – to run apps anywhere and protect data everywhere.
DirectFlash Fabric enables customers to improve performance of enterprise mission critical applications as well as new web-scale applications that traditionally have relied on direct attached storage.
Modern enterprises are challenged to deliver innovations and services that can keep up with a constantly fast-moving society — with no downtime allowed.
According to Google, 53 percent of mobile users will leave a site that takes over three seconds to load. Applications must be available and accessible at all times.
