Winning photographs of 10th annual Canon PhotoMarathon in Singapore

2,419 participants took part in the Singapore leg of the Canon PhotoMarathon Asia, at Marina Bay Sands Singapore. Here are the winning photos.

Beginning at 9am in the morning, this year’s attendance of the day-long competition was an increase of 15% over last year.

There were two categories of participants – Open and Student. For each category, there were three themes – Wonder, Harmony and Pleasure.

18 prizes were given to the top three winners of the three themes for each category. Prizes given included Canon products such as the Canon EOS 5D Mark III and Canon EOS 650D digital SLRs.

In addition, Best of Show awards were given for each of the two categories – for the best collection of images from all three themes.

The two Best of Show winners – Koh Zhi Kai (Open) and Jerrer Lee – will be going on an eight-day all-expense-paid photo clinic to Hungary.

This year’s competition also featured a Celebrity Challenge.

Under this challenge, local celebrities – The Muttons, Jade Seah, Ross, Dawn Yeo and Nat Ho – competed against each other based on the theme, Pleasure.

Photo Contest: Home Without Walls (Open Category)

SingTel has launched the Open Category of the “Home Without Walls” photo contest. The contest is open to all Singaporeans from today to 5 August, 2012; and has a top prize of S$2,500.

This contest is part of a series of activities under the “Home Without Walls” campaign.

The campaign aims to inspire Singaporeans to connect with their families and forge stronger bonds with their loved ones.

The Grand Prize winner for the Open Category contest will walk away with S$2,500, and the individual winners for each of the four category themes will enjoy S$500 in cash prize.

This photo contest is open to all Singaporeans and submission is done through the SingTel FaceBook page.

Photographs can be taken with any camera, including mobile devices. Selected entries will be collated into a set of limited edition postcards which will be distributed at a later stage.

Winning photographs from each category will be published by SingTel.

SingTel has launched a photo contest aimed at the professional photography community – with a top prize of S$15,000. Submit online before 20 May 2012.

The campaign is about inspiring Singaporeans to make real and meaningful connections with the people who matter, with the aim of creating homes where there are no communication barriers, and connect from the heart – whether online or offline.

For the moment, only the Professional Category of the contest has been launched – for professional photographers that earn more than 50% of their normal income from photography.

Photos must be taken after 20 March 2012 and, if possible, reflect a Singapore context.

Each participant may submit up to 12 entries.

There are four separate themes for photos: Attachments, Connections, Memories, and Networks.

Participants must send in photo of family moments based on their own interpretations of the above themes.

Detailed terms & conditions can be found online.

The panel of judges comprises Derrick Heng from SingTel, as well as renowned photographers: Yumi Goto, Marc Prüst, and local photographer Tay Kay Chin.

The winner of each theme will win S$1,000 in cash, while a grand winner will take home S$15,000.

Some 100 Samsung Global Bloggers (SGB) from around the world will get to travel to London for the Olympic Games and share their personal experiences on a specially created blog.

SGB hopefuls will have to go through a two-round audition process that will judge them on the ability to seek out exciting stories happening in London and generate buzz about the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The audition calls for the submission of a 30 second video stating why the entrant should be picked to come to London.

The video will be judged on the entrant’s creativity and enthusiasm.

“Since its inaugural launch at the Nagano 1998 Olympic Games, SGB has developed into a truly global program, encouraging participation from more countries than ever before, and expanding its reach through an integrated global digital platform,” said Sunny Hwang, Vice President & Head of Global Sports Marketing at Samsung Electronics.Those who get through to the second round will be putting together a video report, before the final lucky winners are selected by a celebrity judging panel to come on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to London.
