Embedded with Beats Audio, the 7-inch tablet is an affordable consumer device for enjoying music on the go – with headphones that possibly cost more than the tablet itself.
In fact, the HP Slate7 is cheaper than Google-backed ASUS Nexus 7 that came out last year.
While the business-ready HP ElitePad on Windows 8 is targeted towards enterprises and governments, the HP Slate7 aims to be an entry point for for consumers.
The High-aperture-ratio Field Fringe Switching (HFFS) panel of the Slate7 offers wide viewing angles even in outdoor lighting conditions.
The Slate7 comes with HP ePrint application, which enables users to easily print at home or on the go via the Internet to a web-enabled printer.
There is also a native printing capability in the tablet to print directly from most applications.

The PhotoNote app digitses analog material into an online photo notebook – for more efficient management and more effective communications.

New freemium app from Fuji Xerox: PhotoNote – an online photo notebook.
SkyDesk PhotoNote captures and stores analog content into digital form for more efficient storage and access and enables these content to be easily shared with co-workers, partners or customers for more effective communications.
Hand-written-character recognition
PhotoNote’s digitisation uses Fuji Xerox’s proprietary character-recognition technology for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) that includes recognition of hand-written characters.
The technology mimics a human’s visual information processing and this is the first time such technology is used on commercialised software.
Currently, only English and Japanese are supported.
Most of the features are free, with additional storage and Excel conversion feature available as paid options (prices within).
The app works with iOS and Android and is available in Singapore, Australia and Japan.
PhotoNote digitises physical memos or meeting notes jotted down during business discussions and stores them in the cloud – enabling easy access by the user and quick sharing of the information with others.
To digitise printed material, forms, handwritten memos and whiteboards, simply snap a photo using a smartphone or digital camera and upload the photo onto SkyDesk on the cloud.
The PhotoNote app automatically conducts image processing and OCR conversion, storing the image together with tags and additional text annotations, as well as text data from the conversion.
Easy search can be done on the database of PhotoNote records based on recorded time/date, tags, and the converted text.

Creative Suite – Adobe’s flagship software package comprising “perpetual” boxed versions of design and production software such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Dreamweaver and InDesign – has been discontinued.
Subscription-based Creative Cloud is now the new flagship at Adobe.

Adobe CC (Creative Cloud) is the new acronym, while Adobe CS (Creative Suite) reaches the end of the line. Click to check subscription price plans.
Adobe made the announcement during its annual Adobe Max Conference in Los Angeles today.
You can still buy the current Adobe CS6 from Adobe, but the software will not get any future feature updates.
You will still get security patches and bug fixes, and Adobe has committed that CS6 will be compatible with the next major version of Windows and OS X.
Existing CS owners (especially CS6) will get aggressive discounts to entice them to move to CC.
Adobe had packaged its stable of creative and design software – together with software it had gained through its acquisition of Macromedia – as Adobe Creative Suite (CS) back in 2003.
Adobe CS is termed “perpetual” since you pay once and own it forever.
You can use it for as long as you like – barring compatibility issues, security patches and termination of bug fixes over time.

Pay S$26 per month for a single app or S$66 per month for the entire suite.
A decade on, the component software will no longer be available as part of the Creative Suite packaging.

Why Adobe recommends CC for you.
Customers will have to rent them by subscribing to Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) instead.

For the more high-end F7500, F8000 and F8500, Advanced Smart Interaction allows viewers to use everyday language and casual gestures to find content or command and control the TV.
SmartView allows users to move their content seamlessly between devices in real-time while AllShare connects the TV to compatible mobile devices wirelessly and creates a smart centre for media and whole-home automation.
The display on compatible Samsung GALAXY tablets and phones can also be mirrored onto the TVs for lean-back viewing comfort.
“By partnering various content producers including MediaCorp, SingTel and StarHub, we offer additional content choices for consumers in Singapore,” said Irene Ng, Vice President of Marketing, Samsung Asia.
Existing owners of Samsung’s 2012 flagship Premium TVs (from ES7500 upwards) are not left out.
Slotting in an Evolution Kit offers both software and hardware updates that include access to the 2013 Smart Hub and other Smart features, and upgrades the TV’s dual-core processor to quad-core, resulting in faster internal processing speeds.
