By radically simplifying the 3D print process, Adobe hopes that Photoshop CC will become the go-to tool for anyone who wants to print a 3D model.

“The new 3D print capabilities in Photoshop CC take the guess work out of printing 3D models for everyone,” said Winston Hendrickson, vice president products, Creative Media Solutions, Adobe. “Before today there was a gap between the content produced by 3D modeling tools and what 3D printers need in order to deliver high quality results. Now, by simply clicking ‘Print’ in Photoshop CC, creatives can bring 3D designs to the physical world.”

Available immediately, as part of a major update to Adobe Creative Cloud, the new 3D printing capabilities integrated in Photoshop CC enable Creative Cloud members to easily and reliably build, refine, preview, prepare and print 3D designs, setting the stage for explosive growth in the 3D printing market.

The new 3D printing capabilities also help creatives to design in 3D from scratch or refine an existing 3D model and produce beautiful, print-ready 3D models using familiar Photoshop tools.

Automated mesh repair and support structure generation ensure models will be produced reliably, while accurate previews allow creatives to submit print jobs with confidence.

Adobe has announced, during its MAX conference, significant feature updates to the software within Creative Cloud. These updates will be available on 17 June in the US (18 June in Singapore).

The component software in Creative Cloud has also been rebranded with “CC” suffix to reflect that they are an integral part of Creative Cloud and have been reinvented to support a more intuitive, connected way of creating.

For instance, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro will now be rebranded a Adobe Photoshop CC and Adobe Premiere Pro CC respectively.

There will be no new versions of the Adobe Creative Suite.

In the meantime, Adobe has also integrated Behance into Creative Cloud so that users can upload their work directly from the component software of Creative Cloud onto Behance.

Behance is a social portfolio network that enables users to publish their own portfolios, follow other creatives, publish work-in-progress from within a growing number of CC apps and solicit feedback from the worldwide creative community.

Below are some of the new features that will debut as part of the mid-June Creative Cloud update (extracted from Adobe’s press release).

Photoshop CC will ship with new sharpening technologies and designer workflow enhancements.

Adobe made the announcement during its annual Adobe Max Conference in Los Angeles today.

Adobe had packaged its stable of creative and design software – together with software it had gained through its acquisition of Macromedia – as Adobe Creative Suite (CS) back in 2003.

Adobe CS is termed “perpetual” since you pay once and own it forever.

You can use it for as long as you like – barring compatibility issues, security patches and termination of bug fixes over time.

Pay S$26 per month for a single app or S$66 per month for the entire suite.

A decade on, the component software will no longer be available as part of the Creative Suite packaging.
