The all-flash storage pioneer addresses Tier 1 disk use cases and mission critical environments with new Replication, Snapshot and Policy Management Services.

The comprehensive new FlashArray family lineup promises to put the power and promise of ‘Instant Infrastructure’ within reach of every enterprise.
The company also unveiled expanded the existing FlashArray offering to target SMBs as well as large enterprises, organisations and datacenters.
“To keep pace with rapidly evolving infrastructure requirements, enterprises are now looking for greater scalability, simplicity and efficiency from their storage solutions than ever before,” said Tim Stammers, senior analyst at 451 Research.
The current FA-420 FlashArray has been supplemented with the entry-level FA-405 and high-capacity FA-450 FlashArrays.
The new Purity Operating Environment, Purity 4.0 features FlashRecover, a set of fully integrated, space-efficient replication, snapshot, and policy management services that offer comprehensive protection against disaster and data loss — both locally, and globally.
With these advancements, the Pure Storage FlashArray more fully supports mission critical workloads and Tier 1 storage use cases, eliminating the need for enterprises to continue making investments in legacy storage solutions powered by mechanical disk.

Seagate has launched in Singapore the Backup Plus Slim (500GB, 1TB, 2TB) and Backup Plus Fast (4TB). Available now at Challenger stores. Both are USB-powered and do not require its own power supply.

Seagate Backup Plus Fast (left) comes in black with 4TB while the Backup Plus Slim (right) ships in red, blue, black and silver with 500GB, 1TB and 2TB capacities.
Both enable backup from mobile devices via the local Wi-Fi network or via the Internet.

WD Black2 dual drive (S$459) is available in Singapore through selected retailers and distributed by Achieva Technology Pte Ltd and Eternal Asia (S) Pte Ltd.
The 2.5-inch drive pairs a 120GB SSD with a 1TB hard drive and connects through a single cable and fits into a conventional 9.5 mm slot.

In a groundbreaking ceremony today, Seagate announced that the new facility will be located at one-north and is expected to completed in early 2015.

“The Shugart’ is Seagate’s S$100m investment in Singapore, and will be completed in early 2015.
The new Design and R&D Centre will be named “The Shugart” – after Seagate’s founder, Alan Shugart – and provide world-class research and development (R&D) facilities for the mobile storage R&D team in Singapore..
“The Singapore R&D team plays a key role within Seagate’s global R&D efforts. With growing consumer demand for tablets and notebooks, the need to innovate within the mobile storage solutions industry is critical,” said Mark Re, Chief Technology Officer & Senior Vice President, Research & Development, Seagate Technology.
The facility will be able to house up to 900 employees, and have have a gross floor area of approximately 40,880 square metres.
The Shugart will comprise a nine-floor tower connected to a six-floor tower with three basement levels.
It will focus on the development of 2.5-inch small form-factor products for notebooks, ultra-books, convertibles and tablets.
The new facility will allow all R&D personnel to be housed together, thus fostering greater collaboration and innovation.
