Fuji Xerox DocuCentre S2010 & S1810

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012

Fuji Xerox has introduced two new digital  monochrome multifunction devices (MFDs). The DocuCentre S2010 and S1810 offers small and home offices (SOHOs) with cost effective and high-performance copy, print and scan jobs of up to A3 size.

Available now. Enquire at Fuji Xerox on price which varies with configuration.

Fuji Xerox DocuCentre S2010 & S1810

Fuji Xerox DocuCentre S2010 & S1810

The DocuCentre S2010 and S1810 print and copy at 20 pages per minute (ppm) and 18 ppm respectively. Both print images at up to 600 dpi resolution.

Fuji Xerox DocuCentre S2010 & S1810The Duplex Automatic Document Feeder loads up to 110 sheets and scans multi-page documents at 18 sheets per minute while the durable platen glass handles small or varied-sized documents and books for printouts.

Users can also electronically set and sort desired page order for fuss-free print collection, minimizing the need to manually collate high-volume printouts for faster turnaround time.

Multiple-Up function prints up to two pages on one sheet, and when in duplex mode – fits up to four pages on one piece of paper.

Fuji Xerox DocuCentre S2010 & S1810Further paper-saving can be achieved by digitizing documents up to a maximum of A3 size and storing scanned data to a personal computer (PC).

Connect a single user directly through USB or configure a network of multiple users through Ethernet support to facilitate document sharing.

The Toner Saver Mode calibrates toner density according to print or copy requirements, which controls ink usage and maximizes replacement schedules.

Equipped with built-in energy-saving Sleep Mode and Low Power Mode, DocuCentre S2010 and S1810 operate on low energy Typical Electricity Consumption (TEC) and follow stringent International Energy Star Program standards.

The MFDs can be configured to fit workflow requirements – a desktop set-up for individuals or small groups, or a stand-alone device for multiple users, with maximum paper tray capacity of up to 850 sheets.

The PIXMA PRO-1 professional grade inkjet photo printer from Canon will be available at S$1,399 from mid February.

Canon PIXMA PRO-1 professional grade inkjet photo printer (S$1,399)

Print your own photo GALLERY with the world’s first 12-ink A3+ photo printer from Canon which combines accuracy with speed to produce quality color and monochrome prints.

“We have seen a lot more people taking up photography using DSLRs, and spending more time on image and photo editing,” says Andrew Koh, Senior Director and General Manager of Consumer Imaging & Information Group, Canon Singapore. “With professional print quality for both colour and monochrome images, the PIXMA PRO-1 is the next logical step in showcasing these great efforts.”Five of the 12 individual ink tanks are monochrome inks dedicated to producing professional quality black and white prints.

LUCIA pigment inks produces accurate colours while a Full-Photolithographic Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) print head provides the highest possible print resolution.

The PIXMA PRO-1 marks the addition of professional photographic solutions to Canon’s range of lifestyle printer products.

True-to-Life Prints

The PIXMA PRO-1 professional inkjet printer delivers exhibition-quality prints with a new 12-tank individual ink system.

12-tank individual ink system

12-tank individual ink system

This comprises 6 colour inks (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Red, Photo Cyan, Photo Magenta), 5 monochrome inks (Photo Black, Matte Black, Dark Gray, Gray and Light Gray) and 1 Chroma Optimizer.

The inks provide an exceptional range of colours for improved skin tones and accuracy in monochrome prints, and allow for seamless switching between various types of print media.

The Chroma Optimizer completes the 12-ink system by smoothening out stray ink droplets that cause uneven reflection, adding glossiness with anti-bronzing, and allowing users to show off gallery quality images.

Accuracy meets Efficiency

The PIXMA PRO-1 features three colour modes – colour, monochrome, and the new photo colour print mode which reproduces blues and greens to match visual memory of colours.

High print resolution of up to 4,800 x 2,400dpi

High print resolution of up to 4,800 x 2,400dpi

Its new Optimum Image Generating (OIG) system analyses colours in an image file and calculates the optimum ink combination and volume of ink droplets needed.

This enhances colour reproduction to bring out fine tonal gradations and ensures uniform glossiness across all print modes and media types, producing realistic print quality.

The PIXMA PRO-1’s FINE print head brings out detailed quality in prints, with a high print resolution of up to 4,800 x 2,400dpi.

Coupled with a printing depth of 16-bits per channel, the printer promises smooth tonal gradations in both colour and monochrome prints.

At the same time, print speed has been improved by increasing the number of nozzles to 12,288 nozzles (1,024 nozzles x 12 colors).

The new machine comes with larger ink tanks for longer print periods and offers a dual paper feeding system for both semi-gloss media and fine art media.

Front opening panels enable easy access to the ink tanks on either side of the main printer body, while the rear tray accommodates up to 20 sheets of photo paper, and the manual feed slot accepts photo paper up to 356mm (14”) wide and heavier fine art paper.

This feeding system helps to ensure paper is accurately fed, thus eliminating skewed prints, improving efficiency and minimizing wastage of ink, paper and time.

Network Connectivity

The new PIXMA PRO-1 professional inkjet printer can be connected to a network via Ethernet, allowing multiple user access to the printer.

This is especially useful for imaging professionals working together within a single location.

I’ve recycled my ink cartridge, have you?

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

During our weekly visit to the library, we deposited an empty ink cartridge into the recycling box positioned just inside the entrance of the Tampines Regional Library.

Don't just throw your empty ink or toner cartridge down the bin - recycle it!

Don't just throw your empty ink or toner cartridge down the bin - recycle it!

I’d just used up the black ink cartridge on my ink jet printer at home.

In the past, there wouldn’t have been any other choice but to dump it with other domestic refuse down the chute.

But with Project Homecoming, I can do my own little part to conserve the environment by sending the expended cartridge for recycling.

Project Homecoming is an ink and toner cartridge recycling initiative that is led, managed and jointly funded by the five leading printer brands – Brother, Canon, Dell, Epson and Lexmark.

The initiative is supported by National Environment Agency and National Library Board of Singapore.

Recycling bins made from cardboards have been placed at 13 NLB libraries where the public can deposit used ink and toner cartridges.

At first, I didn’t spot the recycling bin at Tampines Regional Library so I asked the librarian at the counter, wondering if she’d know what I was asking about.

She knew exactly what was going on for Project Homecoming and promptly pointed out the inconspicuous recycling bin squatting just inside the entrance.

I got junior to drop the empty cartridge in, after explaining to him how he would be doing his little part in helping conserve the Earth.

I’m also mighty glad that National Library Board has done a stellar job getting its staff to be aware of the initiative.

Bravo!

Recycle your printer ink and toner cartridges

The aim to make it easier for the public to recycle their used ink and toner cartridges.

This is the first time globally outside Japan that these five brands have come together to initiate a joint recycling project.

Andrew Koh, Senior Director & General Manager, Consumer Imaging & Information Products Division, Canon Singapore Pte Ltd“We aim to bring greater convenience to the public who are keen on making a personal contribution to recycling efforts across the island, and are proud to be working together as a team to jointly fund and promote the culture of recycling in Singapore,” said Andrew Koh, lead spokesperson for Project Homecoming and Senior Director and General Manager, Consumer Imaging & Information Products Division, Canon Singapore.

“With strong support from the NEA and NLB, we will be able to give back to society through this initiative as socially responsible organisations, while driving home the message of environmental awareness through cartridge recycling as part of joint sustainability efforts from the printing industry.”

Project Homecoming will provide easily accessible cartridge recycling bins at 13 NLB libraries where the public can deposit used ink and toner cartridges from printers of any brand for recycling – even those of other brands not in the Project Homecoming partnership.

The cartridges are then periodically collected for proper recycling.

Recycling vendors of the joint initiative will collect the cartridges from the boxes and break down recyclable parts including plastics and metal, which can then be made into other products such as pens or petroleum coke (high-grade fuel).

These recycling processes will help minimise waste, landfill and pollution while maximising the recovery of valuable resources.

Beating the crowds to Singapore EXPO

SITEX 2011 @ Singapore EXPO from 24 - 27 November

SITEX 2011 @ Singapore EXPO from 24 - 27 November

Barely back from one week in KL, I trundled down to Singapore EXPO to get that replacement printer.

First off, I nearly drove to Suntec City, before remembering that SITEX was the only one of the four annual IT expositions held in Singapore EXPO.

SITEX 2011 @ Singapore EXPO from 24 - 27 November
On the way there, the radio was warning of traffic build-up at Simei. Fortunately, the TomTom VIA 280 GPS recommended a route that brought me to the car parks behind the Singapore EXPO, where there was no jam and plenty of lots.

I’d always parked in the car parks at the front of Singapore EXPO and never realized there was this big car park on the other side.

At any rate, I got what I needed and got out before it became really crowded.
