Here’s a sampling of what industry leaders shared today.

Dr. IP Park, President & CTO, LG Electronics shared that it has achieved a milestone in its developments in smart home living because “with this level of digital integration, we’re really beginning to build an evolving, connected and open eco-system of smart products and services that can deliver so much more than the sum of its parts – going above and beyond device-level thinking to unlock a whole new world of potential at the system-level.”

“We really need to make sure we understand the shocks to come in this market. What are we going to do to be vigilant to understand the next wave and how we might react and how we are going to put our teams in a position where they can make better decisions,” said Sean O’Neill, Chief Product Officer at GfK.

Matthias Ginthum, CMO BSH Hausgeräte envisaged that “we at BSH want to be the first company in our industry to neutralize the direct carbon dioxide emissions of all our locations worldwide.”

For Frederic Langin, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, TCL Europe; TCL’s mission is “to make life intelligent with innovative technology to make our customers’ lives easier and smarter.”

Looking forward, Yannick Fierling, CEO Haier revealed that “Haier will introduce new solutions – based on an ecosystem built from the Internet of Things – for turning the group vision of Smart Home and Smart Living into reality.”

New Arrival: Honor 8X (S$348) Debuts in Singapore

The Honor 8X budget smartphone from Huawei is being officially launched in Singapore today. Highlights include an aurora glass body and thin bottom border using innovative chip-on-film (COF) technology.

In Singapore, the Honor 8X is now available through authorized resellers and official online store at Lazada for $348.

The Honor 8X features a 6.5-inch FullView display with 91% screen-to-body ratio and a 2.5D double texture aurora glass body with a grating effect.

The 6.5-inch Notch Full-View Display 2.0 has a 19.5:9 ratio in a 5.5-inch long and 7.8 mm thick body.

At launch, the Honor 8X will be available in Black and Blue, with the Red color available at a later date.

Huawei has unveiled a slew of mobile devices, launching premium handset range Honor 3X, world’s slimmest 7-inch tablet MediaPad X1, Mobile WiFi Miao Wang and home entertainment device MediaQ.

For business folks who need a long battery life, check out the Huawei Honor (S$528 incl GST), which features a 1,900 mAh battery, a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and an 8 megapixel HDR-enabled camera.

The high capacity battery promises to provide the longest battery life among smartphones in the 4-inch screen range – lasting up to three days on a single charge

“Huawei Honor is a high performance smartphone which is simple-to-use, but also packed with advanced technology that allows people to communicate, connect, entertain and share content easily,” said Alan Wong, Chief Marketing Officer, Huawei Device, South Pacific Region.Huawei Honor runs on Android Gingerbread 2.3 operating system and has a 16M true colour Full Wide VGA capacitive touch screen (854×480 pixels).

Its 10.9 mm thin body weighs 135g and includes a gyroscope, G-sensor, and proximity and light sensors.

The smartphone is DLNA-certified to enable interoperability with other DLNA-certified devices such as digital cameras, game consoles and TVs.

This makes it easier to share digital photos, music and videos between different devices.
