At its online global launch event, Huawei has just launched its latest flagship P40 line-up and three new devices. Local Pricing & Availability will be announced at the Singapore launch tomorrow. Stay tuned.
Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group launches the anticipated flagship P40 series 5G smartphones and three other new devices – Sound X speaker, Watch GT2e, and Gentle Monster Eyewear.
As expected, the P40 Series offers 5G and pushes the frontier in smartphone photography, with its Leica camera system and AI engines.
The series comprises three models:
- Huawei P40 (799 Euros, 8GB+128GB, 7 April)
- Huawei P40 Pro (999 Euros, 8GB+256GB, 7 April)
- Huawei P40 Pro+ (1,399 Euros, 8GB+512GB, June)
A new smart photography feature enables users to easily remove passers-by and reflections in a photo.
The Huawei P40 series pushes the envelope for mobile phone photography.
Bolstered by Huawei’s largest CMOS sensor yet and intelligent AI capabilities, the Huawei P40 Series offers its most advanced smartphone camera to date.

The new accessories comprise the S1 Floor Stand (S$599), the B1 Wall Bracket (S$399) and the P1 Desk Pad (S$299).
The new accessories for the KEF LSX are now available in Singapore
In addition to the exciting new accessories range, KEF recently announced the introduction of Apple AirPlay 2 enabling LSX owners to stream music, videos and games from any Apple device including iPhone, iPad or Mac to their speaker.
To update to AirPlay 2, the new firmware will be deployed over-the-air and applied across all existing products purchased by existing and future customers.

The Google Nest Hub has hit the shelves of Singapore today and is available in Charcoal and Chalk – through M1, COURTS and Challenger and Google Store at S$189.

Customers purchasing a Google Nest Hub from Challenger, COURTS, and M1 will also get a free Google Assistant compatible Mi Home Security Camera 360° 1080P by Xiaomi.
The promotion will be also coming to the Google Store in July.
So in addition to interacting with it purely through voice, you can now view information on the screen and interact with whatever is on the display with the usual touch-screen actions.
And the screen enables the Google Nest Hub to function as a photo frame showing photos from your Google Photos account, and serve as a table-top clock displaying the time, and setting off alarms to wake you up in the morning.
But most significant is the ability for the Google Nest Hub to function as the hub (yes, there’s a reason why it’s called by that name) of your smart home – displaying the status of the compatible smart devices within your home, and enabling you to interact and control those devices through voice or touch.

Attended a demo of Devialet’s SAM Lab. SAM (Speaker Active Matching) is an audio #technology which ensures extreme fidelity.
Devialet’s trainer from Paris flew into Singapore to showcase the difference between a speaker that has SAM technology vs one that does not. Listening to the demo, I found the enhancement most pronounced in the lower frequency ranges.
By taking into account the characteristics of the loudspeaker connected to the Devialet, it enables the Devialet to drive in a very precise and controlled way the speaker driver diaphragm’s movement, so as to obtain an exact alignment between a recorded music signal, and the pressure wave that reaches the listener’s ear during a listening session.

Samsung Electronics has launched its QLED TV line-up in Singapore, together with the new Samsung Sound+ Soundbar. Pricing below.
The three models in the new QLED TV line-up are the Q7F, Q8C and Q9F.
Samsung’s QLED TV Series was first unveiled at CES 2017 where it won more than 20 awards including four CES Innovation Awards.
Samsung’s new QLED TV series is now in Singapore. The launch was held in Vivocity.
The QLED TVs offer improved colour performance and enhanced Smart TV offerings.

The new Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch offers Military-grade Protection, IP68 water and dust resistance, mobile payments, and built-in speaker and GPS.

The three dimensional, immersive sound technology will debut at Golden Village Suntec City with the premiere of Jack Neo’s latest Chinese New Year comedy/ drama, “Long, Long Time Ago” on Thursday, 4 February.
Auro Technologies is a spin-off of the privately owned Galaxy Studios Group, renowned worldwide for its state-of-the-art leadership in audio innovation for music and sound for film.
Auro 11.1 by Barco. Auro 11.1 brings sound from all around and above to create a more impactful experience.
“Long, Long Time Ago” was natively mixed in the new immersive technology at Galaxy Studios Belgium.
We had the chance to experience the Auro 11.1 setup at the Golden Village cinema at Suntec City. It’s the first and only cinema in Singapore to have installed the system.
Auro 11.1 is touted as the most realistic 3D sound experience currently available in the market.
Unlike other technologies where speakers are placed only on a horizontal plane and directly above, the Auro 11.1 by Barco’s system uses a sound reproduction speaker layout based on three axes (x=width, y=depth, z=height) and three vertical layers (surround, height, top).
