Lifetime World Maps allow people to access the latest maps from around the world, including the Southeast Asia map, for the lifespan of the new TomTom GO device at no extra cost.

The new devices also come with Lifetime Speed Camera updates so drivers can always receive alerts at the locations of all speed cameras – both fixed and mobile, also for the lifetime of the device at no extra cost.

The new GO models feature fully interactive screens to pinch, zoom and swipe, as well as 3D Maps, a Click & Go mount, and the new ‘Drive Home’ and ‘Drive to Work’ buttons on the main menu to make the daily commute simpler and faster.

For the first time, drivers can use their smartphone, tablet or PC to review real-time traffic information, plan routes, and send destinations to their TomTom GO, before they get into the car with TomTom MyDrive, a feature which helps drivers to avoid traffic jams, and get to their destinations faster.

TomTom today launched in Singapore three new TomTom GO GPS portable navigation devices – GO 50 (S$249), GO 500 (S$299) and GO 600 (S$349) – as well as new live Traffic updates feature for their use in Singapore.

The new PNDs feature a completely fresh user interface with lifetime TomTom Traffic and map updates.

“Where navigation used to be about getting people to unfamiliar destinations, we are now empowering drivers with easy access to the information they need to make the smartest driving decisions, every day. The new TomTom GO is an essential daily driving tool, helping Singaporean drivers to get out of traffic, and get to their destinations faster,” says Chris Kearney, Vice President of TomTom Consumer, Asia Pacific.

They also ship with an interactive map featuring 3D buildings and landmarks, giving drivers the ability to know what is going on around them, as well as what lies ahead.

The new series of GO PNDs allow users to view traffic incidents in detail and receive traffic jam alerts, so that they can take the fastest detours available.

With a screen that easily zooms in and out, drivers can find, and explore places on the brand new interactive map, and tap on the map to get an instant route to their destination.

The new TomTom GO series comprises the following models and is currently available at retailers such as Challenger and Harvey Norman.

New Android smartphones: Sony Xperia ion and neo L

Sony Mobile has unveiled another two new Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) smartphones. The Xperia ion takes over the flagship role from the Xperia S, while the Xperia neo L is a follow-up to the Xperia neo V.

Both smartphones will be available in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore in calendar Q3 2012.

The Xperia ion and Xperia neo L were launched today as part of Sony Mobile’s South East Asia debut of a slew of six new Xperia smartphones.

The other four phones were the Xperia go, Xperia acro S, Xperia miro and Xperia tipo.

They had been unveiled progressively over the past two weeks.

The Xperia ion has a massive 4.6-inch display (1280 x 720 pixels on a 16-million colour TFT), and a high-capacity embedded 1,900mAH battery.

Both the rear (1080p) and front (720p) cameras are HD capable.

The 12-megapixel rear camera boasts a quick sleep-to-snap speed of just over a second via a single key press.

The Xperia ion will be available in black in Singapore; and in black and red in Malaysia and Indonesia.

The Xperia neo L has a 4-inch display (480 x 854 pixels on a 16-million colour TFT), a 5.1-megapixel (720p) rear-camera, VGA front camera, and a 1,500mAH battery.

It has a sleek curved back design and glossy finish; and incorporates Sony’s xLoud technology for crisp and loud sound.

The Xperia neo L is available in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia in both black and white.

Event: Sony Mobile debuts six new Xperia Android smartphones for South East Asia

The six new models are: Xperia go, acro S, miro, tipo, ion, and neo L. The first four models were announced over the last two weeks, while the Xperia ion and neo L were unveiled today.

All six phone models will be available in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore in calendar Q3 2012.

The Xperia ion is the new flagship smartphone for Sony Mobile.

Its 4.6-inch display is bigger than that of the 4.3-inch in the previous flagship Xperia S.

The Xperia ion also includes a microSD card expansion slot for up to 32GB – which was absent in the Xperia S.

The Xperia go and Xperia acro S are stylish, durable and water-resistant.

They are supposedly water-proof up to a depth of 1m.

The Xperia miro offers deep Facebook integration and features Sony’s xLOUD audio technology together with the Xperia neo L.

The Xperia tipo comes in both single and dual SIM versions.

The latter allows one-touch switching between two numbers through a dedicated network switch button on the phone.

All six models either ship with Android 4.0 installed or can be upgraded over-the-air to Android 4.0.

This is consistent with the trend of making electronic gadgets waterproof to enable an adventurous lifestyle.

Both smartphones have scratch resistant mineral glass displays for protection against dust and water immersion.

The Xperia go has a 3.5-inch display, 5-megapixel camera and 1,265mAH battery.

It will be launched on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) but upgradeable to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

The Xperia acro S has a large 4.3-inch display, huge 12.1-megapixel camera and 1,840mAH battery.

Five new GPS PNDs from TomTom have arrived in Singapore – three from the Via range and two from the GO series. They will be available during SITEX 2011 from S$199 to S$479.

TomTom’s PNDs (Portable Navigation Devices) uses the unique IQ Routes technology that allows everyone to drive like a local.

The new TomTom PNDs will be available at SITEX 2011 (24-27 November) at the following recommended retail prices.

The technology uses real road speed information contributed by TomTom drivers to consider all possible routes for selecting the fastest path – rather than rely on static maximum road speeds.

This often results in a different and faster route, saving significant travel time as well as money and fuel.

The PNDs comes with maps of Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei, Hong Kong and Macau.

Launching in Singapore for the first time, the software features Bluetooth hands free calling and an easy to use interface.

The TomTom Via 220 and 260 feature a 4.3” touch screen while the Via 280 sports a 5” touch screen.
