Recently announced at IFA 2017, Sony Mobile is launching the Xperia XZ1 (S$898), Xperia XZ1 Compact (S$668) & Xperia XA1 Plus (S$498) in Singapore on 7 Oct, 2017.
5.2-inch Sony Xperia XZ1 Android 8.0 Oreo smartphone. S$898, 3D scanning, 19-megapixel Motion Eye camera for predictive photos & super slow motion videos, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 CPU, 4GB RAM, 64GB memory, front-facing stereo speakers, 2700mAh battery. 2 colours: White Silver, Black.
All three Android smartphones can be pre-ordered from now to 6 October.
The 5.2-inch Xperia XZ1 and 4.6-inch XperiaXZ1 Compact are top tier smartphones and will be among the first smartphones in the world to ship with Andoid 8.0 Oreo.
The Xperia XZ Premium remains the Xperia flagship in Sony’s smartphone product line.

Apple’s iPhone 8 & iPhone 8 Plus have arrived in Singapore. Telcos in Singapore saw long queues forming with customers vying to be the first to get their hands on the latest smartphones from Apple.
The first 10 Singtel customers to get their new iPhones.
Singtel, the largest Telco in Singapore, held its launch at Marina Bay Sands Exhibition Hall C.

Canon has launched today 4 new PIXMA inkjet all-in-one printers. The TS9170 (S$329), TS8170 (S$299) and TS5170 (S$189) are photo all-in-one printers, while the TR8570 (S$289) is a business all-in-one printer. Available 25 September, 2017.

Hot on the heels of Epson’s launch of the rival’s L-series ink tank printers yesterday, Canon has launched four new models in its PIXMA series of inkjet printers.
Canon’s new lineup is skewed more towards photo printing – three out of the four new models are photo all-in-one printers while the fourth is targeted at small businesses and SOHOs.

Epson has launched its new L-Series ink tank printers, with six new models (L6190, L6170, L6160, L4160, L4150, L405, ) ranging from S$539 to S$329. Available 22 September, 2017. Prices below.
Epson L6190 integrated ink tank printer uses spill proof refill bottles (S$539): print, scan, copy, ADF, Fax, duplex.

- Borderless photo printing up to A4 size
- User replaceable maintenance box available for added convenience

All the new printer models (except the L405) are integrated ink tank printers where the ink tank container has been positioned within the printer to reduce the overall footprint of the printers.
Unlike the new integrated ink tank printers, the new L405 (S$329) retains the external ink tank design of Epson’s existing ink tank printers, resulting in a larger footprint.
New features in some of the models include auto-duplex printing (or paper feeding), PrecisionCore printheads and a 30-sheet ADF (automatic document feeder).

Google has launched its home Wi-Fi system in Singapore – the first in Southeast Asia and the 8th country in the world to begin shipping the mesh router. Prices below.
Customers will be able to get a three-pack Google Wifi at $0 upfront cost when they sign up or renew selected StarHub Broadband or Hubbing all-in-one plans.
Google Wifi will be available in Singapore from 31 August, 2017 – exclusive to StarHub customers.
By setting up two or more Google Wifi routers around the home, a mesh Wi-Fi network is set up in the home that extends the range of a traditional router and provides coverage to dead Wi-Fi zones plaguing most home Wi-Fi networks.

This is especially useful for larger apartments or homes with physical layouts that are introduce Wi-Fi dead zones.

Dell launched its series of four business laptops end last year and the Vostro 14 5000 notebook has been my computer of choice for the last few months. Here’s why. (Prices start from S$1,164.)
The Dell Vostro 14 5000 is an affordable notebook that packs good performance to keep you productive, with excellent connectivity, long battery life and light weight that won’t break your back.
First off, I use the notebook in the course of work – churning out word documents, browsing the web for research, reading PDF and web articles, viewing videos and presentation slides, as well as browsing and simple editing of work and personal photos, with the occasional video production.
So I’m looking for a no-frills machine that just works – it doesn’t have to look good or offer any gimmicks – just something portable with the essential connectivity to let me set up anywhere quickly.
The Vostro 14 5000 is just that.
