Atlas has partnered with Piega to sell the Swiss handmade speakers in Singapore. The premium, precision-crafted speakers range from the entry-level TMicro 3 speakers (S$748) to the top-of-the-range MasterOne loudspeakers (S$54,648). Prices include GST.
Piega’s most affordable speakers in Singapore- TMicro 3 (S$748).
Made from 100% aluminium, these speakers are extruded from a 3 ton aluminium block in one production step pressed with a 7,500 tonne press machine, one of the largest in Europe.
Piega’s top-of-the-range loudspeakers – MasterOne – can be had for S$54,648.
The process results in an acoustically perfect housing featuring very high cabinet stiffness due to optimised damping in relation to enclosure thickness.
Piega’s audio research team developed its own linear drive ribbon (LDR) ribbon tweeter – a 0.02mm aluminium ribbon foil that Piega claims surpasses all conventional dome tweeters.
With only 0.007 grams of moving mass, the aluminium riboon foil boasts an impressive frequency range of up to 50’00 Hz and 98 dB efficiency.
The linear impulse and frequency from these tweeters also results in high audio efficiency with little distortion and a clean decay spectrum, presenting robust and extremely clear audio.
Piega also introduced the coaxial ribbon system in 2000, enhancing the quality of its speakers to present an electrostatic-like performance coupled with a sleek, aesthetic design.

Passive speakers come with a 6-year warranty while active speakers with electronics come with a 3-year warranty from Atlas Sound & Vision.
By having the membrane of the tweeter surrounded by the membrane of the midrange, both membranes are on the same plane in all three axes and have the same point as the acoustic centre.
Operating as a single point sound source, the virtually perfect pulse response fits perfectly with the advantages from the LDR ribbon tweeter.
This produces extreme audio clarity to deliver an exciting musical experience, with a natural, life-like sound that stirs the emotions for its audience.
I had a listen-in at the Winstedt showroom to both the TMicro 3 and the MasterOne. The showroom was deliberately NOT soundproofed so that customers could get a realistic idea of how the music will sound in their own homes.
The quality of music was indeed superb.

Audio specialist Sennheiser has launched the Amperior headphones (S$499), which will make its debut in Singapore at COMEX 2012 on 30 August.

Modeled on the Sennheiser HD 25 DJ headphone, the new Amperior is DJ-inspired and designed for the urban lifestyle.
The headphones come with an aluminium finish in silver or blue.
The rugged headphones can cope with an extremely high sound pressure level and offer professional-level sound.
Powerful neodymium magnets provide natural, lifelike sound reproduction with a frequency response of 16 to 22,000 Hertz.
The closed design reliably keeps out background noise, while the adjustable headband and low weight ensure a comfortable fit.
The ear cups can be rotated for the classic DJ monitoring style: one-sided listening.
The headphones are are equipped with a 3.5 millimetre stereo jack plug and the nominal impedance has been reduced to allow optimum connection to portable players.
Integrated smart remote controller.

Sony has launched its new Extra Bass series of headphones. The four new over-the-ear headphones and three new in-ear headphones will be available in Singapore from September 2012. Prices TBA.

Atlas Sound & Vision introduced Bose’s new OE2 (S$219) and OE2i (S$269) audio headphones in Singapore today.

The OE2 and OE2i headphones deliver better audio performance than their predecessors, and feature an updated look and design.
Music is reproduced with improved depth and clarity, and the new contoured styling creates a closer, more comfortable fit.
The Bose OE2 and OE2i audio headphones (which are not noise canceling) can be used with nearly any audio source.
They replace the current Bose on-ear headphones, and are now available in a choice of black or white.
The OE2i headphones come with an inline remote and microphone that lets owners interact with select Apple products, including the latest iPhone, iPod, iPad, MacBook, and MacBook Pro models.
Users can easily control volume, tracks, and voice applications – and switch between music and calls on an iPhone.
The OE2 headphones come with a standard audio cable.
Apart from the above differences, the OE2i and OE2 headphones are identical.
The OE2 and OE2i headphones feature an enhanced proprietary TriPort acoustic headphone structure.
With redesigned and newly tuned earcup ports, audio reproduction is more balanced and natural.
There is no manufactured “boost” across the frequency range; low notes are full and rich, and mid-high frequencies are smooth and clear.
The OE2 and OE2i headphones also feature a new design that’s smaller and lighter, with a slimmer profile.
The headphone’s ear cushions, made from memory foam, conform to the user and combine with a redesigned headband for a better, more comfortable fit.
Owners can listen for hours — commuting, working or playing — without the irritating pressure points caused by some conventional headphones.

LG integrates 3D Sound and Smart TV Technologies into four new 3D Sound home theater systems it introduced during CES 2012. The BH9420PW will hit Singapore stores from April 2012.
LG introduced four new home theatre systems for the year during CES 2012.
LG aims to draw synergy by combining its 3D Home Theater Systems with its CINEMA 3D Smart TVs.
The first of the four systems to launch, the BH9420PW incorporates LG’s own 3D Sound Zooming technology, which constantly synchronizes sound output with the location and movement of the on-screen 3D images on a CINEMA 3D Smart TV.
BH9420PW will hit Singapore stores from April 2012.
3D Sound Zooming is capable of generating variety of depth in sound based on a complex algorithm that analyzes the varying depth of numerous on-screen objects displayed on the 3D TV.
The immersive 3D sound is enhanced further by the BH9420PW’s 9.1 speaker system, which adds four Upright 3D Speakers to the 5.1 channels of a conventional home theater system.
The four Upright 3D Speakers pump sound upward, ensuring that the vertical space is completely filled with sound. Meanwhile, a 360º Reflector inside each of the Upright 3D Speakers reflects sound in all directions, creating acoustics as rich as those in a concert hall.
LG combines its 3D Home Theater Systems with its CINEMA 3D Smart TVs.
In addition, by applying LG’s unique 3D effect DSP algorithm, the Sound Field Expansion technology further expands the horizontal sound field, and works in harmony with the Upright 3D Speakers to create a truly immersive, 360º sound experience.
The audio “sweet spot” is further extended so viewers always feel as if they are right in the middle of the action, regardless of their location in a living room.
In order to provide viewers with a wide range of 3D experiences, the BH9420PW is equipped with a Smart TV function which provides access to LG’s Smart TV ecosystem – with a growing variety and quantity of 3D content through various premium content services and apps, such as LG’s 3D Zone.
