You get to use for free US$35,000 worth of Progress software development tools, enjoy US$10,000 worth of product training and mentoring, and potentially win up to US$25,000 in market development funds.
The Progress-XTC Challenge is actually a contest within a contest. It is held as part of the EXtreme Tech Challenge (XTC), of which Progress Software is a sponsor.
To take part in the Progress-XTC Challenge, you’re required to build an application using one to three of the following Progress technologies:
- Progress Rollbase – Rapid application development for web and mobile in the cloud
- Progress Modulus – Platform to deploy, manage, monitor and scale Node.js applications.
- Progress Corticon – Rules engine to add sophisticated, automated decisioning to your application.

Participants in the Progress- XTC Challenge will receive free development licenses to Progress Rollbase, Progress Corticon and/or Modulus (retail value: up to US$35,000). You will also enjoy free product training and mentoring (retail value: US$10,000)
The first prize is US$25,000 in market development funds, while the second and third prizes are US$5,000 each in market development funds.

Criteria to participate
- You must be an official XTC contestant to participate in the Progress challenge – (register by September 30, 2014 at their website)
- You must be a startup with < $5M USD in revenue, and < 5 years operating history.
- You must also register with Progress and complete the Progress Applicant Agreement by midnight eastern time on September 30, 2014.
- You must use one or more of the following Progress products in your application: Progress Rollbase, Progress Corticon or Progress Modulus (bonus points will be given for those who use all three).

XTC is a contest held in conjunction with CES, where selected startup tech companies with a cool app get to present their products to the world live onstage at CES 2015.
The top three finalists will also get the opportunity to present their apps to Sir Richard Branson on Necker Island.
