In a unique initiative aimed at empowering the workers in family life support sectors, iCare Life Pte Ltd., Singapore, a social enterprise today launched the portal www.iCare.Life to offer training courses benchmarked to global standards.
“In a fast-changing economy and social milieu, better-trained workers in the informal sectors can look forward to seeking much-improved employment and earnings. As a social enterprise, we are committed to creating a pool of trained and certified caregivers,” said Sudhamoy Khasnobis, Founder Director, iCare Life Pte Ltd.
These training and certification courses will empower them to deliver superior and professional service thus enhancing their careers.
iCare Life to begin with will offer modular e-learning courses to workers engaged in eldercare and childcare sectors.
Also, chauffeurs and drivers will be offered smart driving courses to improve their competency levels and become safe and smart drivers.
Training courses in eldercare offered by iCare Life are approved by AIC- Agency for Integrated Care set up by the Ministry of Health in Singapore.
Based on its studies, iCare Life has understood the aspirations of less trained workforces in informal sectors such as elder caregivers, helpers and home assistants among others.
In the context of fast growing economy and the evolving social set-up, it is vital to empower these workforces with enhanced training that would enable them to emerge as more competent and aware service providers; and in the process increasing their earning potential considerably.
The training programmes/certification courses are e-learning based modules and are delivered through personal computers, tablets and mobile phones, so that individuals can learn the skill sets at their pace, anywhere, and everywhere.
“It is very important to note that Singapore has a very large elderly population, estimated at close to 700,000 and is dependent on eldercare service providers, a majority of whom come from different parts of the world. These service providers are untrained or at best poorly trained,” Khasnobis added.
The students who enroll will go through stringent assessment protocols to earn the iCare Life certificate.
The training courses come in both Competency and Nano structure.
Course on ‘Activities of Daily Living (ADL)’ and ‘Psycho-Social Wellness’ are being launched in the Eldercare vertical. In Baby & Child Care, a basic training course on ‘Daily Care for Babies and Children’ is being launched.
The training course for chauffeurs and drivers is called ‘Smart Driving’ and empowers them with better standards of driving while imparting greater knowledge to optimise the usage of the vehicles driven by them.
“We have, over the last couple of years, invested in research, establishing standards and creating content. We have built a robust technology platform to deliver e-learning and certification protocols to a segment of the workforce, who at present has very little access to even rudimentary training. Today is a big day as we launch the portal www.iCare.Life and make it available to this large unorganized workforce,” concluded Khasnobis.
The company has unveiled many incentive schemes and training-related programmes. It is awarding Silver Membership on www.iCare.Life valued at 30 SGD, for just 1 SGD for the month of August 2015, on the occasion of the nation’s 50th year of independence.
iCare Life is promoted by a group of professionals with diverse expertise in finance, banking, training, communication and social sectors.
The company has the vision to convert ‘family support services’ into a formal industry by establishing standards, building capabilities and providing hassle free access.
In the process, enrich the lives of millions of people.
The company is based out of Singapore has plans to expand its operations globally.
