New arrivals: Nikon D7200, COOLPIX P900 cameras & ViewNX-i software

The Nikon D7200 DSLR and COOLPIX P900 compact zoom camera will be available in Singapore by end March, 2015. Prices TBA. The ViewNX-i will be available for free download beginning 17 March.

Nikon has announced two new cameras and new image-browsing software.

D7200 DSLR

The DX-format D7200 DSLR offers enthusiasts features for low-light photography, social connectivity and Full HD videos.

The 24.2-megapixel DSLR comes with EXPEED 4 image-processing engine and CMOS sensor.

The 51-point autofocus (AF) sensor module is also utilised by the Nikon D750, and has an AF detection range down to -3EV for low-light photography.

Standard ISO ranges from 100 to 25600, extendable to ISO 102400.

There is built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and it is the first Nikon DSLR to feature Near Field Communication (NFC)-support (for NFC-compatible Android smartphones and tablets with Android 4.0 or later).

The D7200 is also the first Nikon DX-format DSLR to have time-lapse and interval-timer videos.

The new compact zoom camera comes with 83x optical zoom and new Dual Detect Optical VR technology to reduce blur,.

That’s a focal length of 2000mm (35mm-format equivalent) at maximum zoom, which can be doubled to 4000mm using Nikon’s Dynamic Fine Zoom feature. Wide ange is at 24mm.

The COOLPIX P900 has 16.1 megapixels and an EXPEED C2 image-processing engine, and shoots Full HD videos.

The backlight illuminated CMOS sensor provides an expanded ISO up to 6400.

ViewNX-i image-browsing software

The ViewNX-i is a new free image-browsing software designed to enable easy management of still images and movies recorded with a Nikon digital camera.

ViewNX-i is the successor application to the current ViewNX 2 image-browsing and editing software provide by Nikon has offered to date.

The new software offers simpler operation as an application specialised for image browsing, with features such as tabs that make it easy to switch between workspaces, and the addition of an Output Toolbar that intuitively displays convenient functions.

The ViewNX-i is also fully compatible with other Nikon software applications, in which the ViewNX-i serves as the launch pad for RAW development and still-image adjustment using Capture NX-D, and movie editing using ViewNX-Movie Editor.

With Capture NX-D, Nikon’s photofinishing software, all advanced adjustment functions available with the application can be used to develop RAW images and edit still images via ViewNX-i.

Further complementing the ViewNX-i functionality is the ViewNX-Movie Editor, a bundled movie-editing software that provides users of all proficiency levels in movie-editing with the ability to easily convert, create and edit movies.
