Launch of virtual reality surf footage for Samsung SportsFlow

In another first in collaborating with Samsung SportsFlow, Garage Entertainment has also created and produced several virtual reality (VR) episodes for the SportsFlow app and Samsung Gear VR in what is the world’s first showcase of VR surfing footage featuring world-renowned Red Bull athlete and big wave surfer Mark Matthews.

“It’s a big thing for us to be one of the first companies to produce virtual reality footage for the Samsung Gear VR. VR content puts you right into the thick of the action, giving you the point-of-view of the biker, the surfer or the skater,” said Michael Lawrence, CEO, Garage Entertainment.

The footage was launched at the Fearless Film Festival, where guests got the chance to try on the Samsung Gear VR and be among the first in the world to experience what it is like to be in the middle of a 15-foot wave – without getting wet.

The world first Virtual Reality surfing footage is a point-of-view (POV) footage shoot featuring Australian Mark Matthews, one of the world’s most renowned professional Big Wave surfers.

The episodes capture Mark as he tackles 15ft waves at The Right, in Western Australia from four different video angles.
