    Hi John,

Did you connect the My Passport STudio 2TB for Mac to a MacBook using the Firewire 800 or from the MacBook’s Thunderbolt with a Thunderbolt-to-Firewire adaptor cable?

Did the MacBook Thunderbolt connection provided enough power to use the Passport Studio 2TB without an external power supply?

    Cheers,
    Chester

      Hi Chester,

I connected using the included Firewire 800 cable. I didn’t connect using a Thunderbolt-to-Firewire adapter cable though. But I’ve got a friend who currently connects it to his MacBook Pro Retina via a Thunderbolt-to-Firewire adapter – without an external power supply. He doesn’t encounter any power problems. Hope this addresses your concern.

      Cheers,
      John
