I popped down to the Vivo #FutureBeyondEdges roadshow at Bedok Mall today and tried out the exciting new flagship smartphone – NEX 3 – that was launched in Singapore last week.

Based on first impressions, I like the “no edges – no buttons” design of the premium phone.
#FutureBeyondEdges Event @ Bedok Mall
As part of the NEX 3 launch in Singapore, vivo is holding the #FutureBeyondEdges event from 6–12 November at Bedok Mall.
Customers who purchase the NEX 3 (S$1,299) at the event will receive a FREE DJI OSMO Mobile 3 Combo (worth S$189) and Folio Case (worth S$29.90) – while stocks lasts.
The Vivo NEX 3 is also available through the telcos M1, Singtel and StarHub.
The launch of the Vivo NEX 3 in Singapore was first announced last month on 17 October.
The actual launch was only last Saturday on 2 November, so the NEX 3 is still hot from the oven.
The 6.89-inch POLED Waterfall Fullview Display (1080 x 2256 FHD+) extends over the curved edges on both sides and offers an immersive visual experience with the high 99.6% screen-to-body ratio.
All around the edges, there’re no buttons at all, except for the diminutive power button which is so flushed with the side that it’s hardly noticeable.
The volume up/down “buttons” on either side of the power button are totally invisible because they use embedded sensors.
The fingerprint sensor is in-display on the front, so you don’t see any fingerprint sensor at the rear.
There is also face-unlock should the fingerprint authentication fail three times.
The triple rear cameras come with a 64-megapixel main camera, as well as a 13MP wide-angle camera and 13MP telescopic camera that takes pretty impressive macro photos.

The new Vivo NEX 3 showcased at the #FutureBeyondEdges roadshow at Bedok Mall in Singapore.
The front camera is a massive 16MP camera that pops out from the top of the NEX 3, accompanied by a flash.
Having the front camera pop up allows a notch-free design that resulted in the high 99.6% screen-to-body ratio.

Mediacorp Artiste Elvin Ng taking a wefie using a Vivo Nex 3 smartphone at Vivo’s #FutureBeyondEdges roadshow at Bedok Mall.
On paper, the NEX 3 comes with the top-end Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
The phone feels fast and responsive indeed.
Battery wise, the NEX 3 comes with a large 4,500mAh so it should be able to easily last an entire day.

The Vivo NEX 3 is now available in Singapore through major local telcos. Exclusive promo deals – worth over $200 will also be available at Vivo’s #FutureBeyondEdges event at Bedok Mall which runs until 12 November 2019.
The phone has dual SIM but no external memory card slot.
It is 5G ready so you can use it on the 5G networks in China and when 5G rolls out in Singapore.
