Held at Alibaba’s Singapore Visitor Centre – its first outside China – the launch also celebrates the Group’s new home in Singapore following its relocation to AXA Tower in the heart of the Central Business District.

The sets mirror the three best performing categories here namely Electronics, Fashion and Home & Living, which is also the fastest growing product category in Singapore.

There will be more than 1.5 billion products available and 180,000 brands participating in this year’s 11.11 shopping celebration.

More details below from the press release.

Taobao Marketplace (“Taobao”) and Tmall, Alibaba Group’s popular consumer e-commerce platforms, today launched the annual 11.11 Global Shopping Festival for shoppers in Singapore.

“Singapore is a priority market for us as we continue reaching out to the 100 million-strong overseas Chinese community. In the years since we first brought 11.11 here, we have been learning more about of the type of products local consumers really want. We see a growing demand for home and living items like furniture and large electronics in particular, among other big-ticket items,” said Lilian Wu, Southeast Asia Head of Marketing, Taobao and Tmall.

The event recreated the magic of 11.11 as an in-person experience, with showcases of home & living, fashion and tech products and a fashion show featuring an eclectic curation of chic apparel items from the two platforms.

Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of what is now the world’s largest one-day online shopping extravaganza which takes place on 11 November every year, the 2018 edition of the 11.11 Global Shopping Festival promises to be the largest ever for shoppers in Singapore.

In addition to even more deals and localised promotions with partners, consumers here can also catch a glimpse of Alibaba’s New Retail concept at Taobao and Tmall’s new showcase at NomadX, which will be the first up of its kind outside China.

This year’s 11.11, first conceived by Daniel Zhang, Alibaba Group’s CEO, will feature over 180,000 brands from China and around the world, with a myriad of promotional offers for consumers making purchases from a staggering 1.5 billion products available across Alibaba’s Chinese-language retail platforms including Taobao and Tmall.

Big Deals for the World’s Biggest One Day Sale

Starting from 1 November, Singapore shoppers can visit Taobao to stock up on promotional offers which can all be used together during the 11.11 Global Shopping Festival to offset purchases.

These include more than RMB10 billion in daily hongbao giveaways and shop coupons for select product categories available to shoppers around the world on Taobao and Tmall, as well as discount vouchers from select merchants and promo codes.

Consumers can also stand to unlock even more exclusive discounts with Singtel, eatigo and Kaodim, and with payment providers including UOB and Maybank.

This is on top of a range of flash deals, free shipping offers and new member benefits available to shoppers on 11 November.

From now to 11 November, current Taobao and Tmall users can also participate in the platforms’ first referral programme available to Singapore, whereby they can gain additional shopping vouchers and stand a chance to win prizes worth up to RMB100,000 by referring friends to download and make purchases on the Taobao Lite app.

Lazada, as part of the Alibaba family, will also be hosting its biggest one-day sale – the Lazada 11.11 Shopping Festival – in its six Southeast Asian markets (including Singapore), offering engaged consumer experience in local languages and more than 50 million blockbuster deals from brands and sellers.

Bringing Alibaba’s New Retail Strategy Home at NomadX

As part of Alibaba’s vision to connect-the-dots between offline and online retail and in response to the overwhelming success of its first Taobao Home pop-up during the Great Singapore Sale earlier this year, Taobao and Tmall are also launching a first-of-its-kind extended showcase at NomadX, Singapore’s first “phygital” multi-label concept store at Plaza Singapura, in the run-up to the 11.11 Global Shopping Festival.

“This year’s 11.11 in Singapore will be larger than ever before. We hope to celebrate with even more Singaporeans via additional promotions with local partners on top of the exciting shopping deals we have for shoppers around the world,” added Wu.

The showcase will feature popular products available on Taobao and Tmall, along with the return of ‘Taobao Home’ that lets shoppers see and touch top-selling home and living products in person, in an authentic environment also designed to provide visitors with home décor inspirations.

Apart from a special 11.11 programme between 9-11 November, there will also be giveaways for visitors on 11 November itself in celebration of the 11.11 extravaganza.

Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, will host the underlying cloud infrastructure of the facial recognition technologies enabling CapitaLand members visiting NomadX to conveniently log into their CapitaLand loyalty program accounts to access promotional offers on-the-go.
