As a prelude to the Singapore Science Festival 2013, the Kids Science Fest is being held at the Science Centre Singapore from 13-19 July (10am – 6pm).

Jointly organised by A*STAR and the Science Centre, the carnival is targeted mainly towards families and kids/students between ages 6-13.

The activities are located within the Marquee in the Science Centre Singapore.
One girl is creating a simulated Jovian Landscape while her friend is filled with curiosity about what it’s like on Planet Jupiter.
No additional admission is required, but you do need to pay the usual Science Centre admission to get to the Marquee.

There are seven main activities, namely: Hoopster, Hot Air Balloon, Jovian Landscape, Shoot to the Stars, Solar System Model, Spinning Spaceship (UFO), and Wind Vane.
The boy is thrilled to watch the hot air balloon that he’d made take off.
There is also a 30-minute Science Show titled “Terra Nova” (not related to the TV series) that delves into space exploration, and concepts such as geology, energy, natural cycles, plate tectonics and volcanoes.

Additional booths were also set up by school students to display and explain science experiments and phenomenons, as part of the “Science Buskers” competition.

The Singapore Science Festival 2013 will open on 19 July and run till 4 August, with over 70 events, activities and exhibitions designed to showcase how science can be fun.
