Dyson enters a new market segment with its dual-purpose Dyson Zone which serves as an active noise cancelling over-ear headphones with a detachable over-the-nose/mouth air purifier. Prices TBA.
Audio wise, the Dyson Zone boasts up to 50 hours of audio playback with active noise cancellation.
The active noise cancellation (ANC) includes 11 microphones, eight of which reduces the sound of the city by up to 38dB, monitoring surrounding sounds at 384k times each second.
The Dyson Zone reproduces frequencies from 6Hz to 21kHz to ensure clarity, and minimises distortion, with driver output equalised by signal processing at 48k times a second – combining with the noise cancellation to neutralise harmonic distortion to inaudible levels across the full frequency range (0.08% @ 94dB @1kHz).
In terms of air purification, a detachable visor projects purified air to the wearer’s nose and mouth.
Electrostatic filters capture 99% of particle pollution as small as 0.1 microns, whilst K-Carbon, potassium-enriched carbon filters target prevalent acidic gases most associated with city pollution.

I assume the 50hrs is when you use only the headphones. What if you use both the headphones and the purifier? What’s the battery life in this case?
That’s a good question, Philip. When both the headphones and purifier are in-use, the run-time is rated at four hours. The Dyson Zone uses lithium-ion batteries and USB-C charging, and charges from zero to 100% in three hours.
That’s pretty good. Thanks for the info!
