Event Forecast: Toyota GAZOO Racing GT Cup Makes a Comeback

The Singapore leg of the Toyota GAZOO Racing Gran Turismo Cup (TGR GT Cup) Global series resumes this year on Gran Turismo 7 on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. This is the fourth installment of the global SIM racing competition and the third iteration of the Singapore edition.

This year the competition features a selection of Toyota GR lineups, in which players will get to push their limits through renowned circuits and experience the thrill of racing. This includes the nostalgic Toyota Supra GT500 ’97 (Castrol TOM’S) model.

The Semi-Finals and Finals will be held on 4 September 2022, with winners advancing to the TGR GT Cup ASIA 2022 online on 9 October 2022.

The TGR GT Cup Singapore 2022 commenced with Qualifiers on 13 August 2022, with more than 36 participants to date.

Eventually, only 24 of the fastest competitors will advance to the Semi-Finals.

During the Semis, two groups of 12 racers will compete in two races per group, with the top six racers from each group going into the Finals.

In the Finals, racers will compete in three races, with the overall top three competitors getting onto the podium.

Through this competition, Toyota hopes to make e-motorsports accessible by providing opportunities for racing enthusiasts to experience the thrill of racing Toyota GR cars
on iconic circuits.

Local e-motorsport racers who place in the top three positions in the Singapore competition will be awarded with cash prizes of S$3,000 (Winner), S$2,000 (1st Runner-Up), and S$1,000 (2nd Runner-Up).

The top three racers will also proceed to compete on a regional level, against the top qualifiers from Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan and South Korea in the TGR GT Cup ASIA 2022.

Consisting of 21 racers hailing from the seven different teams in Asia, the championship showdown finals between Asia’s best e-Motorsport players is scheduled on 9 October 2022.

The top two finalists from TGR GT CUP Asia 2022 will progress to the TGR GT Cup Global 2022 held in November 2022 where they will virtually compete against the world’s best e-Motorsport racers.
