The ViewSonic VX3276-2K-MHD is a great monitor for increasing the screen real estate of your computer, in this time of #WorkFromHome because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I use it to extend the display on my notebook computer to enlarge the total screen workspace in order to increase the efficiency and productivity of my daily work.

The latest addition to my #WorkFromHome setup (laptop not included): the ViewSonic VX3276-2K-MHD 32-inch WQHD IPS Monitor. Notice the frameless design. If your desktop has the space, I find the 32-inch monitor the optimal size to increase productivity without being too huge to become a strain on the neck when viewing the top of the monitor.
A large monitor is a “productivity-multiplier” and one of the best investments you can make to increase the efficiency of your work on a computer.
Connecting the monitor to a desktop or notebook computer, the monitor serves as a second monitor to extend the screen real estate of a small laptop screen or the first desktop monitor.
The ViewSonic VX3276-2K-MHD IPS monitor has a viewable area of 31.5 inches with a WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution.
WQHD (wide quad high definition) is also called QHD and is commonly known as “2K”.

ViewSonic is an established leader that provides value-for-money when it comes to computer monitors.
The display area measures 698.11 x 392.68mm which is large enough for you to use it as if it’s two side-by-side monitors!
The screen aspect ratio is a wide 16:9.
It’s a TFT Active Matrix LCD with SuperClear IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology so it provides a large horizontal and vertical viewing angle of 178 degrees (good for a large monitor like this) and good colour accuracy and consistency.

Freshly un-boxed – the ViewSonic VX3276-2K-MHD 32-inch WQHD IPS Monitor. Included is the panel, the stand, power and HDMI cables, setup manuals, and a phillips screwdriver.
For my photo-editing work, the 10-bit colour depth, with 1.07 billion, is a boon – providing more vivid colours, smoother gradients and more natural transition between hues.
Its specifications boast brightness levels of 250 cd/m2, contrast ratio of 1200:1 and dynamic contrast ratio of 80,000,000:1.
It has a refresh rate of 75Hz and response time of only 4ms.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with the clarity and colour fidelity of the monitor and did not experience any eye strain or discomfort despite prolonged staring at the display while working.
This is helped by the flicker-free technology and blue light filter that ViewSonic built into the monitor.
In case you’re wondering, the MHD in the monitor’s name stands for “Media (speakers), HDMI, DisplayPort”.
There is a DisplayPort, a Mini DisplayPort and two HDMI ports.
So this monitor should be great in a small meeting room for huddle meetings and multiple attendees can plug in the monitor simultaneously while waiting for their turn to share their presentation decks.

The VX3276-2K-MHD comes with a DisplayPort, a Mini DisplayPort, two HDMI ports and a audio jack along the bottom of the monitor.
Naturally, it’s compatible with both PCs and Macs.
The 32-inch size is just right for a huddle discussion, either at home or in a huddle room at the office.
The VX3276 comes with two built-in 2W stereo speakers.
There is a 3.5mm audio jack at the rear of the monitor to connect to external speakers or earphones/headphones.
My Usage Profile
I have been using a 25-inch monitor as a second monitor to extend the 14-inch screen on my ASUS ZenBook 14 when I work at home.
Having benefited from the convenience and joys of working on a large screen, I decided to upgrade my monitor to 32 inches so I can have even more windows open simultaneously.
Online Promotion: 30% off
ViewSonic currently offers up to 30% discount off selected IPS monitors at its official store on Lazada, with three years on-site warranty coverage.
The VX3276-2K-MHD is currently selling at S$369 (26% off its regular price of S$499), while the VA2732-H (S$199, UP: S$279) and VA 2432-H (S$149, UP: S$179) are also available, in case you’re looking at other sizes.
This enables me to keep in constant view all the information that I need at my fingertips even though they may be on separate windows.
It also saves me the trouble of having to search for that minimised window, clicking on it to activate it and then repeat when I need to view or work in another minimised window.
The number of mouse clicks I eliminate not only saves time and attention, but also my hands and wrists from carpal tunnel syndrome as well.
Typically, I can have up to two word processing documents side-by-side, plus a couple of PDF documents and web pages for research and reference, plus the occasional spreadsheet and powerpoint presentation deck.
Then there’s the Microsoft Teams and email windows.
When there’s a online meeting, I’ll have a large zoom window on the laptop itself.
Design wise, I like the classy, modern look of the VX3276 with an ultra-slim profile, measuring just 6.6mm in thinness.
It looks cool both in the office and at home.
The bezels on the top and left/right sides are so thin the monitor looks frameless – the silver metallic bezel along the bottom edge is only about 1 cm.
The monitor stand has a silver metallic triangle base and is easy to assemble.
I find the ViewSonic VX3276-2K-MHD IPS monitor to be the ideal monitor for the home office. It looks classy, the size is large enough to enhance productivity at work, but not too large to cause neck strain at work, and the image quality is great for watching movies and playing games outside of work.
It provides tilt adjustment but not height, swivel, or pivot.
The height of the monitor is about three inches off the table, so if you need it to be any higher, you’ll have to put in on a phone directory or something.
Alternatively, you can mount the VX3276 on the wall, as it comes with 100 x 100mm VESA-compatible mounts at the rear.
The monitor comes with seven ViewModes: Standard, Game, Movie, Web, Text, Mac, Mono – optimised for the respective use cases, with each mode preset with appropriate enhancements to the gamma curve, colour temperature, contrast and brightness.
I just leave it to Standard as I find it’s good enough for text work and watching movies.
ViewSplit
With so many windows laid out on the monitor, it can get tiresome arranging them around because you need to resize the different windows manually when moving them around, to get the window borders next to each other.
ViewSonic provides a free Windows application to help organise Windows on the desktop.
Basically it enables you to use a predefined template to divide the desktop into rectangular regions on the monitor.
So when you drag a window into a region, the window automatically resizes to fill up that region.
You can use one of the many templates that comes with the application, or you can design your own templates, based on your need and desire.
I find ViewSplit very helpful in helping me get the many Windows on the large VX3276 monitor organised.

Was it difficult to set up with the computer?
Not difficult at all… in fact, it was so easy I didn’t even have to refer to the setup instructions. They even included a Philips screwdriver so you don’t need to search for your own. There’re only three parts (plus the screws) – the triangular base, the stem that connects the base to the monitor itself, and of course, the monitor. That’s physical setup. After that, you only need to connect the monitor to the computer and switch on. I use an HDMI cable. Windows 10 recognised the monitor and had the drivers for it. So it’s all quite uncomplicated and designed to be fuss-free.
can Viewsplit be used on non-Viewsonic monitors?
The short answer is No.
It’s a Windows app so it won’t work on Macs. For Macs there is a built in Split Screen feature that tiles two windows side-by-side on the screen. For more windows, you’ll need third-party software like Mosaic or Workspaces.
For Windows, ViewSplit only works for ViewSonic monitors. I installed it on my computer using a Dell monitor and ViewSplit just asks you to go check out ViewSonic monitors on their website.
