Dell Technologies announced today that AI Singapore (AISG) has selected Dell Technologies to deliver High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure that is optimised for Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads.

“Dell Technologies sees a great opportunity to partner with our customers in accelerating the adoption of best practice techniques to achieving artificial intelligence. We’re excited about our collaboration with AI Singapore and believe that the best practices and emerging techniques for machine learning and deep learning that AI Singapore is developing can be leveraged by governments, industry and academia to drive human progress. Innovating together in AI, we can make a positive impact through new economic, product and scientific breakthroughs,” said Romain Bottier, HPC & AI senior solution architect, South Asia, Dell Technologies.

Launched by the National Research Foundation (NRF) to bring together research institutions and start-ups in the field of AI, one of AI Singapore’s goals is to help seed high-quality research efforts to develop fundamental AI novel techniques, algorithms and adjacent technologies.

To assist researchers in their work, AI Singapore will leverage Dell EMC PowerEdge servers, powered by 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors that will provide the greatest performance and flexibility required for AI research, as well as Dell EMC open networking platforms to run these data-intensive workloads.

These modern architectures will help drive and support a broad range of data science techniques required for AI-intensive workloads, involving high-speed data computation, big data analytics and deep learning capabilities.

With these solutions, organisational networks can be tailored to meet their unique requirements and IT challenges can be minimised to achieve business success.

Dell Technologies AI Experience Zones across the region will showcase the business benefits of artificial intelligence and provide customer access to the latest Dell Technologies AI solutions.

According to the Dell Technologies Digital Transformation Index, 50 percent of organisations in Singapore are looking to invest in AI between now and 2021 to enable digital business.

“Intel One API is an exciting initiative, and our engineering team has started deploying it via our 100 Experiments and AI Apprenticeship programmes. With the upcoming availability of AI accelerators from Intel and One API, we look forward to a consistent interface and tooling for a heterogeneous compute environment so that we can focus on building cutting-edge AI solutions and products for our industry partners,” Liew elaborated on collaboration for innovation in the ecosystem, noting the importance of Intel and its One API software project for the success of AI initiatives.

However, 36 percent of companies are still experiencing transformation roadblocks, one of which is the lack of in-house skill sets and expertise.

Beyond powering AI Singapore’s research efforts, Dell Technologies will also support organisations under AISG’s 100 Experiments (100E) programme that are looking for infrastructure solutions to deploy AI projects.

Through the Dell Technologies AI Experience Zone in Singapore, organisations can gain a comprehensive understanding of AI technologies and advancements, as well as practical, hands-on AI solutions design and deployment experience.

Through masterclass training, AI expert engagements, and collaboration opportunities available on-site, Dell Technologies’ customers and partners are guided through the necessary steps to kick-start AI initiatives including design, installation, maintenance and most importantly, delivering tangible business outcomes for their organisations.
