Review: Norton 360 Multi-Device protection for all your devices

Norton 360 Multi-Device is a security software suite that protects Windows and Mac desktops and notebooks, as well as Android and iOS tablets and smartphones from Cyber-criminals.

A one-year subscription of S$118.99 includes licenses for the software to be installed on five devices (regardless of users).

Many people today possess multiple devices – a home desktop computer, a notebook, a tablet and a smartphone.

And we use all these to access the Web for online activities – surfing, banking, social networking etc – which opens our devices and us to cyber-criminals out there in the Wild Wild Web.

Our personal information and passwords could be stolen, as well as confidential work documents, even our identity.

It is therefore paramount to safeguard our devices and ourselves when going online.

It can be a quite a hassle to evaluate, install, and manage different security software on individual devices separately.

Norton 360 Multi-Device offers a one-stop security solution for users to protect up to five different devices with a single one-year license.

Norton 360 Multi-Device includes PC Tuneup which optimises your device to make it run more smoothly and faster.

The suite includes Norton 360 Premier Edition for PCs, Norton Internet Security for Mac and Norton Mobile Security for Android and iOS tablets and smartphones.

In addition to securing the device, Norton 360 Multi-Device also includes 25GB free online backup and PC TuneUp.

I installed the suite on a Windows 7 notebook using an installation CD.

It was straightforward and was completed within 5 minutes, with one reboot.

You can also install Norton 360 Multi-Device via download from their website.

For mobile devices, there is also a QR code on the CD jacket that you can scan which then leads to on-screen instructions for installing the suite on those devices.

Alternatively, point the smartphone or tablet’s browser here and  follow the on-screen instructions for installation.

My say:

Installation was straightforward and the software was easy-to-use. It made the management of protection for multiple devices such a breeze. I’ve had no virus outbreaks so far and surfing feels safer because search results are labeled by Norton as to whether the link was secure or not.

Unfortunately, Norton 360 Multi-Device does not support BlackBerry and Windows Phone. I had no trouble installing on an Android smartphone, as well as an Apple iPhone and iPad though.

Norton and Windows 8

Norton 360 Multi-Device is also compatible with Windows 8 and has been tested to make Windows 8 run 50 percent faster.I tried it on a Windows 8 desktop and it did seem to become slightly more responsive after.

The suite also makes Windows Defender 20% safer by correctly detecting and blocking threats that Windows Defender failed to recognise.

You can also download the FREE Norton Studio App from the Windows 8 App Store.

The app allowed me to view, control, fix, update and renew all of my Norton installations on the PC and other devices (including Macs, smartphones and tablets) from a single screen in the new Windows 8 style interface.

Here are the detailed feature set and systems requirements for Norton 360 Multi-Device.
