Travel: Visiting The Big Apple with a New York CityPASS

Catherine Zhang visited New York City this summer. During her time in the Big Apple, she used a New York CityPASS to visit five of the most popular sights in the City, saving some 40% in admissions.

The New York CityPASS provides great value-for-money for checking out the top attractions in the Big Apple.

For those planning to sightsee in New York City, there are three CityPASS tickets which cater to different budgets and itineraries:

  1. New York CityPASS
    • Adults: US$138
    • Child 6-17: US$118
  2. New York C3
    • Adults: US$96
    • Child 6-12: US$74
  3. New York C-All
    • Adults: US$194
    • Child 6-12: US$144

All three tickets are valid for nine days (starting from first use) and have a 365-day full refund policy (from date of purchase) for non-activated tickets in case travel plans change.

The New York C3 is for shorter stays like a weekend getaway, providing admission to three attractions at up to 34% discounts.

The New York C-All is for longer stays and those who want to see-it-all, providing pre-paid admission to 11 attractions at up to 50% savings.

The New York CityPass that I used is a good balance between the other two options, providing admission to five attractions, with savings of up to 40%.

For the Empire State Building, the C3 and C-All provide only 86th Floor Observatory admission during non-sunset hours and entry to the 2nd Floor Museum; whereas the CityPASS includes more – AM/PM Experience, including 86th Floor Observatory admission and entry to the 2nd Floor Museum, plus bonus same-night general admission.

So for the New York CityPASS, it includes admission to the Empire State Building and the American Museum of Natural History, as well as a choice of three out of six additional attractions.

You can choose the three attractions out of the following:

  1. Top of the Rock Observation Deck
  2. Ferry Access to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
  3. 9/11 Memorial & Museum
  4. Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises
  5. Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
  6. Guggenheim Museum

So instead of US$228.59 for regular admissions, the CityPASS is priced at only US$138 – with a 40% savings of US$90.59.

With the New York CityPASS, I was able to get a good introduction to the best that NYC has to offer even in the short time I was there.

When you purchase from citypass.com, you’ll receive an email shortly afterward with a ticket for each individual in your party. You can print the email if you prefer a hard copy. CityPASS admission cards are available at some attractions.
