Google has launched the Pixel 4a (S$499) which will be available online from 10 September. Pre-orders for the mid-tier smartphone in Singapore begins tomorrow.

The Pixel 4a has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G Mobile Platform, Titan M security module for on-device security, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage with an even bigger battery that lasts all day. To the right is a sneak peek at the Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5.
The Pixel 4a comes in Just Black with a 5.8-inch bezel-less, OLED display, with a 3.5mm headphone jack, increased storage space of 128GB and 6GB of RAM.
- The same camera features from the Pixel 4 – including Live HDR+ Night Sight with astrophotography, Portrait Mode, and Top Shot.
- Note that the Pixel 4a will not have the rear telephoto lens in the Pixel 4.
- A Recorder app which automatically transcribes speech and lets you search across your audio recordings.
- Longer battery life based on Adaptive Battery that adapts to the way users use their apps, and reduces power to apps that are rarely used.
- Live Caption for phone calls.
Together with the launch of the Pixel 4a comes the Pixel 4a knit fabric cases, which combine beauty, lightweight protection and recycled materials.
Pre-orders & Purchase
Online pre-orders for the Pixel 4a start from tomorrow on the Google Store, Challenger and Courts, and will be available online from 10 September, on the Google Store and retail partners Challenger, Courts and Amazon SG.
The cases come in 3 colours – Basically Black, Static Gray and Blue Confetti – and are made from 70% recycled material.
Google also gave a sneak peek at the upcoming Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 this fall.
Both the Pixel 4a (5G) – starting at $499 – and Pixel 5 will have 5G to make streaming videos, downloading content and playing games on Stadia or other platforms faster and smoother.
Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 will be available in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan and Australia.

Yes you’re right, Shaun. The Pixel 3a was priced at $659 during its launch in Singapore in May last year. Now it’s only $499.

the pixel 3a was a good phone which was why it sold well. I haven’t tried the 4a yet, but with a lower price tag, the latest features, and the Pixel 4 main rear camera, it should be a good buy. Good luck with the pre-order!
