Signify has launched the Philips Hue Play smart light bar which enables users to design and create the lighting effect and ambience of their desires within their living or work spaces. Prices below.
The light bars enable you to create an immersive lighting ambience by illuminating your living or work spaces based on the colours on your movies, the music you’re listening to, or the games you’re playing.

Philips Hue Play can provide a more immersive gaming experience with the light bars.
The keyword here is “immersive”.
So if you’re watching a movie, the Philips Hue Play light bars projects colours corresponding to the scenes on the TV screen so that it feels as if the colours on the screens are spilling out of the screen and lighting up the walls and surroundings.
Prices in Singapore
The Philips Hue Play is available in black either in a double pack (S$209) or in an extension pack (S$99).
Note that you’ll need a Philips Hue bridge (sold separately at S$89) which can control up to 50 Philips Hue bulbs and accessories.
If you’re listening to music, the light bars can translate the beats into light effects based on pre-canned translation algorithms or in whichever way you want to customise.
And if you’re playing games, especially if you’re using gear with the Razer Chroma RBG lighting – eg. laptops, keyboards, mice and mouse mats – you can sync the light bars to show matching lighting effects that change dynamically during gameplay.
The lighting effects are available in-game for Overwatch, Quake Champions and other popular game titles.

Singapore – Signify, the world leader in lighting, has launched Philips Hue Play in Singapore today, allowing you to take ambience creation to a whole new level.
Philips Hue Play is a compact, highly versatile light bar that you can position in a variety of ways to create a truly immersive lighting experience.
With Philips Hue Sync, available on both PC and Mac, you can synchronise Hue Play to what you see on-screen and bring a whole new level of excitement to your entertainment experience:
- Let your movies fill the room: Feel like you’re at the movies while you’re on your own couch. Enjoy immediate and immersive light effects that match what’s happening on your screen. Turn every light into a special effect during action sequences and experience the ambient effects of more subtle lighting that perfectly complement the cinematography of each movie.
- Get even more into your game: Discover a new dimension of spatial immersion by bringing in-game environments and effects from the desktop into your room. From slow moving effects that match in-game environments, to fast flashes during action packed sequences, Philips Hue Play pulls you deeper into the game.
- See how music comes to life: Create a relaxed and atmospheric environment to unwind. Or turn every beat into a light effect and transform any room into a dancefloor. The light effects are customisable and along with the music can be used to suit any mood or situation.
Philips Hue Play provides an indirect light effect and can sit horizontally or vertically next to your TV or be mounted behind as a backlight.
Partnership with Razer
In January 2018, Signify announced its first partnership for Philips Hue Entertainment with Razer, the world’s leading lifestyle brand for gamers.
To provide gamers with a new level of spatial immersion, the companies integrated the Philips Hue Entertainment API and tools with the Razer Chroma RBG lighting ecosystem.
This enables gamers to sync their Philips Hue colour-capable smart lighting with any Razer Chroma-enabled devices, including laptops, keyboards, mice and mouse mats.
To enjoy game enhancing light effects, game developers have curated lighting effects that change dynamically during gameplay, offering a more immersive experience.
When on the floor or positioned on a bookcase or sideboard, it offers perfect accent lighting and its sleek design allows it to blend into any entertainment area.
Philips Hue Play is ready to use out of the box. Simply plug it into a power outlet, connect it to the Philips Hue bridge, and instantly gain control of the system’s light output through the Philips Hue app on your Android or iOS device.
Philips Hue Play can now be personalised, allowing you to choose from 16 million different colors to create the perfect ambience to suit every mood.
Pairing the system up with Hue Sync on a PC or Mac will allow Philips Hue Play to become an extension of your gaming and entertainment experience by lighting your surroundings with the colours you see on screen.
The smart plug management system also allows you to extend Philips Hue Play to up to three pieces using only one power socket — nifty solution to the usual lack of power supply sockets.
