The design of the library references the overall garden and greenery theme of Heartbeat@Bedok. The library aims to create a space for library visitors to experience reading in a garden.

The new library will feature specially designed seats and features to provide a comfortable reading space for everyone.

There are also versatile and distinct spaces for patrons of all ages.

The new library spans 2 levels, located on the second & third floors of Heartbeat@Bedok, which is right beside the old Bedok Library building.

Bedok Public Library will also continue to have a strong Malay collection, including books on Malay culture and heritage in other languages such as English, Chinese and Tamil.

In conjunction with the re-opening of Bedok Public Library, NLB libraries islandwide will be conducting an “Hour of Code” – a collaboration between Infocomm Media Development Authority, Apple, National Library Board, and supported by Admiralty Secondary School.

Bedok Public Library will feature senior-focused services including a Large Print collection, an electronic magnifier and a keyboard with large alphabets.

The initiative is targeted at seniors and aims to set aside an hour to introduce computer science and demystify code to show that anybody can learn the basics of coding.

The sessions will take place from 11am – 12pm on 28 October, 2017, and each session will be facilitated by Silver Infocomm Wellness Ambassadors.
