Event: Photos of 5,000 smiling faces fill Clarke Quay Central Atrium

Smile Singapore, an advocacy campaign by Clarke Quay Central to promote a happier and joyful nation, is installing its photo mural of smiling portraits in the Central Atrium of the shopping mall.

A record number of 5755 people have come forward over the past five weeks to share their stories about what makes them happy in Singapore.

Their smiling portraits have been captured and will be printed, laminated and pieced together to create a giant photo mural to be completed by Sunday, 3 May 2015.

“This campaign is aptly timed as we celebrate our nation’s jubilee to consider how Singapore makes us smile. We want to capture these moments of reflections and display them in a meaningful and tangible form,” said Mavis Seow, Director and COO, Retail Business Group of Far East Organization.

The mural will line the first through third floors of Clarke Quay Central, transforming the mall into a record breaking venue.

Smile Singapore is an initiative by Clarke Quay Central to promote happiness in Singapore.

Smile Ambassadors kicked off the project capturing smiling faces of the public and encouraging others to have their pictures taken at the live photo studio set-up at Clarke Quay Central.

The public also shared their personal stories of joy from living in Singapore in conjunction with the nation’s jubilee celebrations.

Promotions as part of Smile Singapore

Until 3 May – Receive your own smiling Portrait from Fuji Xerox Singapore with a minimum spend of $50 at Clarke Quay Central.

Until 17 May – Spot yourself amongst 5,000 smiling faces and receive a free Veganation burger at #B1-40.

Until 21 June – Sure Win Lucky Dip with a minimum of $30 spend at Clarke Quay Central.

When asked about what they like about Singapore, the top responses cited were:

  1. Stable homes with loved ones around them (53.6%)
  2. Being able to celebrate the nation’s jubilee year as a significant milestone (21.4%)
  3. A safe and clean environment (12.3%)
  4. Wide variety of dining and shopping choices (7.77%)

As an event partner of Smile Singapore, Fuji Xerox Singapore is also spreading happiness by donating five dollars for every photo submitted until 3 May to Beyond Social Services to help less privileged families.

“CSR is an integral part of Fuji Xerox Singapore’s core values … We hope that by supporting similar initiatives, we can do our part to enable and empower children and youth from less privileged families to help them achieve better opportunities in their lives,” said Phoebe Fong, Associate Manager, Customer Experience and Community Engagement.

Upon completion, the photo mural is expected to break the national record of ‘Largest Display of Photos’ in the Singapore Book of Records.

The public may view the completed photo mural from 4 May 2015 at Clarke Quay Central’s atrium.

To be part of this campaign, the public may still upload their pictures and stories on the website for the campaign till 31 December 2015.

Smile Singapore Campaign aims to collect 10,000 pictures by end of this year.
