Pebble Steel combines modern technology with classic timepiece design to give users a smartwatch fit for modern urbanites during work and play.
Steel’s e-paper display is protected by a durable Corning Gorilla Glass lens with an oleophobic, anti-fingerprint coating.
The improved housing also comes with subtle RGB LED lights to indicate charging status.
Pebble’s appstore has flourished since its launch earlier this year with big name brands such as Mercedes-Benz, iControl, GoPro, Misfit, Pandora and Evernote jumping on board.
During the launch of the Pebble Steel in Singapore, the company announced that Divian Nair, local Deejay turned Actor-Director, has been appointed as its Pebble evangelist.
Pebble’s Software Development Kit (SDK) capabilities enables Pebblers worldwide to create and release unique apps and watchfaces for the smartwatch.

Divian is currently a supporting lead actor for one of Channel 5’s biggest upcoming productions, Mata Mata season 2.
Divian also conceptualises and directs short films under his own production company “Storyteller Productions”.
Nair is stoked that his collection of gadgets such as GoPro, Sonos and Philips Hue can now be controlled from the wrist.

Is it easy to customise your own watch face?
Urm, you need to use the SDK to design your own watch face. But there are already very many pre-canned designs available for free. You’ll be spoilt for choice without having to roll up your sleeves to design your own. Unless, of course you want to put your girlfriend’s face as a watch background ;-p

Yes. I like the one with the shiny steel frame. Looks elegant with the steel strap. Good for formal occasions too.
Is the metallic strap included?
No, it’s not included. It’s an additional optional accessory. S$39.90. I think it’s quite worth it.
Is the watch waterproof? Can I swim with it?
The watch itself is water resistant, but not the leather strap, unless you get the optional metallic strap. And water resistant is for swimming and shower/rain up to 5 ATM.
