Nokia Lumia 1020 will be available in Singapore from all 3 Telcos from 5 October for S$999, in yellow, white and black. Nokia Camera Grip (S$98) will be bundled in for free.
Pre-orders begin on 26 September from the local operators, Nokia Stores and Nokia Solutions Partners.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 was first unveiled in New York in early July.
Main technical specifications and descriptions of its main features can be found here.
Basically, the Nokia Lumia 1020 has a 4.5-inch AMOLED WXGA (1280 x 768) display, running on a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor.
The Windows Phone 8 smartphone has a 2GB RAM and 32GB internal memory (the 64GB version is not available for Singapore).
It has a 2,000 mAh battery with wireless charging supported via an optional cover.
Hands-on
The key selling point of the Nokia Lumia 1020 is its 41-megapixel camera.
Camera specs
The Nokia Lumia 1020 uses the PureView 41 MP sensor with optical image stabilization.
It has a resolution of 7712 x 5360 pixels, 6-lens Carl Zeiss optics, high resolution zoom 3x, Xenon flash for still images, and LED flash for video.
The Lumia 1020 records 1080p 30fps video, and includes Nokia Pro Camera and Nokia Smart Camera.
A 38-megapixel JPEG mastercopy is saved with every shot, after which you can crop any 5-megapixel portion to be saved as an additional copy.
Looking at the images on the phone’s screen, the image quality seemed excellent, including for low-light situations.
I like the MMI for manual control of the camera in the Nokia Pro Camera app.
All the manual controls (for white balance, ISO, shutter speed, focusing distance, and exposure compensation) is displayed on a single screen to be changed by dragging the pertinent circle on the touch screen.
The camera has a fixed aperture at F/2.2 so there’s no need to adjust that.
Nokia Camera Grip
The Nokia Camera Grip fits the Nokia Lumia 1020 and enables single-handed taking of photos.
It includes a built-in, rechargeable 1020 mAh battery to capture up to 285 more photos.
The camera grip has a tripod socket for attaching the smartphone to any standard camera tripod.
