The RSA Conference Asia Pacific 2013 aims to grow Singapore’s cybersecurity thought-leadership sphere in the region by creating value-added platforms to discuss the challenges and solutions in today’s increasingly complex security environment.

SSIPO is a strategic alliance between the Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to support private companies in undertaking R&D in Singapore and build new solutions to detect threats and protect data.

RSA is the security division of EMC and offers intelligence-driven security solutions.

With the digital era ushering in an increased awareness of the security threats in the cyberspace, participants will learn about IT security challenges from both a global and Asia Pacific perspective through a series of keynote sessions presented by leading security industry experts and guests speakers.

The Cybercrime and Law Enforcement track has been specifically developed for RSA Conference Asia Pacific

It will discuss cybercrime and its effect on all stakeholders, bringing in law enforcement perspectives and looking into digital forensics techniques and strategies in tackling cybercrimes.

This is a demonstration of the intent of both SSIPO and RSA to enter into meaningful public-private partnerships to address security threats.

The hope is to offer valuable insight and raise common awareness of cyber threats, especially as cybercrime and cyber security pose greater challenges in an increasingly connected Asia Pacific region.

Art Coviello, Executive Vice President of EMC Corporation and Executive Chairman of RSA, The Security Division of EMC kicked off the inaugural RSA Conference Asia Pacific today with the opening keynote.

Art outlined how leveraging Big Data approaches to security can help make the much-needed intelligence-driven security model a reality for organizations in the face of growing and sophisticated cyber attacks.

Art explained that within many organizations, a lack of understanding and knowledge and unbalanced security budgets are current impediments to the adoption of an intelligence-driven security model.

He recommends that an intelligence-driven security must be taken on the part of company boards of directors and C-level executives, practitioners, governments and vendors to help organizations be effective against the sophisticated cyber threat landscape.

Singaporeans heading to Israel for Cyber Security Skills Training

“Such a collaboration would lead to the creation of good jobs for Singaporeans and creates a readily available talent pool for companies to tap when they set up operations in Singapore,” said Gian Yi-Hsen, Director of Safety & Security Industry Programme Office, SSIPO.

RSA has announced its intent to enter into multi-year agreement with the EDB in an effort to train Singaporean candidates for careers in cyber security and combating online fraud.

This initiative is in response to the global shortage of qualified cyber security professionals needed to help defend critical IT infrastructures in civilian and government organizations.

RSA and the Singapore EDB will seek qualified graduates from Singapore universities and existing cyber security professionals to take part in a multi-year residency and repatriation program designed to train candidates with the latest skills needed for cyber security and anti-fraud careers.

“There is a global shortage of qualified professionals with the skills required to help defend citizens, business and government from cybercrime and cyber espionage,” said Vincent Goh, Vice President of Asia-Pacific and Japan, RSA.

Selected candidates will be enrolled in one- or two-year residency training rotations at the RSA Anti-Fraud Command Center in Israel through a new grant program administered by the Singapore EDB.

Qualified residency candidates will return to Singapore and be eligible for placement in cyber security or anti-fraud analyst positions at RSA or within the cyber security industry in Singapore.
