OMRON has launched the development of its i-DMP (i-BELT Data Management Platform) which is embedded with the i-BELT manufacturing site data utilisation service.
OMRON launches i-DMP for rapid implementation of data-driven solution service. The i-DMP sorts and converts data gathered from production sites.
In its effort to accelerate digital transformation at manufacturing sites and to achieve carbon neutral manufacturing, the data-driven service streamlines the integrated management of diverse data.
This brings about improvements on manufacturing floors, thus assisting customers in tackling their issues both effectively and efficiently.
More details below from the press release.

As we go into 2023, Keysight’s senior vice president, and president of the Electronic Industrial Solutions Group (EISG), Ee Huei Sin, offers the following predictions for key technologies for the new year and the years ahead.
Rapidly evolving technologies across cloud, digital twins and artificial intelligence, 5G and 6G, quantum computing, and electric and autonomous vehicles are powering innovation across industries.
Keysight Technologies supports development of these and other technologies by delivering advanced design and validation solutions, from software-driven insights and analytics that bring tomorrow’s technology products to market faster across the development lifecycle, to design simulation, prototype validation, automated software testing, manufacturing analysis, and network performance optimisation and visibility in enterprise, service provider and cloud environments.
As the world’s leading test and measurement provider, Keysight’s customers span the worldwide communications and industrial ecosystems, aerospace and defense, automotive, energy, semiconductor and general electronics markets, and it is well-placed to anticipate key developments affecting the Electrical and Electronic (E&E) and IT landscapes, in the future.
Here are seven technologies that I believe will be key in the new year and beyond.
- Cloud cover to soften recession concerns
- Cybersecurity: the deepfake threat, hackers in your home, physical attacks
- Real-world use cases for digital twins and AI
- 6G will open new doors
- Quantum starts to realise its potential
- Electric vehicles will drive more integrated and intelligent energy consumption
- Carbon reduction
May I elaborate further on each of these technology areas.

Belkin has embraced greater sustainability in the materials it uses in its products, as well as in its packaging.
Belkin is already on its way to becoming 100% carbon neutral in scope 1 & 2 emissions by 2025. Its commitment to review all areas of the business has included a focus on reducing single use plastics in packaging which has seen up to 90% reduction in plastic usage in some products.
In the name of sustainability, Belkin is adopting more responsible ways of building and packaging its consumer electronics products.
Beginning with its top selling mobile power products, several of Belkin’s most popular wireless chargers, power banks, wall chargers, and car chargers will receive updated product housing materials that consist of 73-75% post-consumer recycled plastics (PCR) and plastic-free packaging.
Belkin is currently working towards carbon neutrality in scope 3 emissions.
The product transition will be rolled out beginning 2023 and will save an estimated 7,000 metric tons of carbon emissions and reduce CO2-eq emissions for these products by up to 67%.
More details below from the press release.

The Sustainability prize for the 2021 James Dyson Award is Plastic Scanner – a low-cost, handheld device to identify plastic for recycling. It was invented by Jerry de Vos from TU Delft.
The low-cost, handheld Plastic Scanner tells you on the spot what type of plastic a product is made of.
Plastic is a lightweight, safe and readily available material which can be used to make long-lasting, durable products.
It has a bad reputation because it is often not thought to be recyclable and so ends up in landfill, or worse on the beach or in our oceans.

IoT – or the Internet of Things – has been the buzzword for a while now and businesses are constantly on the lookout for ways to fast track their IoT adoptions and rollouts.
I spoke with Jitender Khurana to find out how a traditional lighting network can be harnessed to rapidly transform a dumb building into a smart IoT-enabled environment.
Jitender Khurana is the Country Head & Managing Director for Singapore and Emerging Markets at Signify. Photo: Signify.
I asked Jitender the key to Signify’s competitive advantage in helping its customers embrace IoT.
Three simple words: “Lighting is ubiquitous,” says Jitender, head honcho for Singapore and Emerging Markets at Signify.
“Lighting is ubiquitous,” says Jitender Khurana, head honcho for Singapore and Emerging Markets at Signify.
But how does that give Signify a leg up in helping businesses embrace IoT more quickly and easily?
Well, the most tedious aspect of rolling out an IoT implementation is typically the deployment of IoT sensors and the network connecting these sensors back to the IoT platform.
Laying the network for both power supply and data tends to be both costly and time-consuming.
For Signify – that network is simply the lighting network that forms the basic infrastructure of any building or facility.
As far as the world leader in lighting is concerned, “Where there’s light(ing), there can be an IoT sensor integrated into the luminaire”.

Epson showcases its business-to-business solutions in Singapore and aims to help Small-Medium Enterprises (SME) grow and develop with the adoption of sustainable technologies.
Another robot barista, this time from Epson. I met its cousin Ella at Crown Digital in Singapore last month.
A showcase of practical innovations that help reduce an organisation’s impact on the environment, B2B Ignite demonstrates how the adoption of sustainable technologies will meet the business and productivity needs of Singapore’s SMEs.
Epson’s move to expand and strengthen its B2B offerings in Singapore is in step with the country’s Smart Nation plans and its sustainable future.

“Recent developments in the built environment sector require a new breed of architectural designers and technologists. We have brought the expertise of two schools – Design and Engineering – together so that the graduates of the new Diploma in Sustainable Architecture & Design can thrive in the future economy. We believe that they will be in great demand in multiple sectors, including architecture, construction, green and smart building development,” said Albert Lim, Director of School of Design, Nanyang Polytechnic.
